Vehicle Detail
You can find a lot of Alfa Spiders out there, but not like this one. It's an especially well preserved completely original car with a documented 30,450 miles that its three previous owners have cared for and kept in pristine condition. It's all original, the paint, the wheels, rubber seals, interior, glass, mechanical components, boot cover, floor mats and carpet, trunk and even the factory pin stripping, which is perfect. I believe the convertible top is original too, but can't say for certain. It is in good condition. The tires are Michelins, but not the original ones, although one of those is in the trunk as the spare (Michelin XVS 185/70 HR14). The original window sticker comes with the car as does the original owner's manual and warranty booklet. Original sales documents are also included. The original owner, an official in the Greensboro, NC city government whose name is on the warranty certificate, bought the car November 30, 1984. The next owner, a professor at Davidson University, (NC) owned the car from 1985 until August 2005 when a retired physician in Rock Hill, SC became the third owner. The mileage is documented by the Carfax report as well as documents in a file folder that comes with the car. The car shows minimal wear. It starts, drives, shifts, stops and sounds the way a mid-eighties Alfa should. All the electrical items work properly, even the under hood light (how often do you see that?).This car is in very good mechanical condition. It starts every time, idles well, runs well. The car drives well and it is smooth on the road. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull. The transmission shifts nicely and does not pop out of gear. The clutch feels good. We recently drove it 150 miles on a trip and it ran perfectly. No delamination in the glass, or chips or cracks, can be seen. The paint is shinny and smooth There is no cracking, crazing or fading, but a few small stone chips can be found on close inspection(mostly about the size of a grain of rice with one of pea size on the hood). The original rubber weatherstrip and seals are equally well preserved, as is the rubber at the front and the rubber spoiler at the rear. The seats show no wear and the carpet has no rips or stains. The door panels, instruments and dash look new with no cracks or tears. The kick panels have no scuffs and look great. The trunk also looks very clean and is nicely detailed. This car has not been smoked in; there are no burn marks or no aroma whatsoever. Check the market for Alfa spiders that are this nice with such low mileage. One eBay listing that has been up for nearly three weeks now is for a dealer's silver car with about 36k miles and the buy-it-now is about $13,500. From looking at the pictures, the silver car does not appear as nice as the one in this listing. Check the completed auctions to see what people are actually paying for nice examples. I will work with any shipper of your choice and will not mind storing the car in our garage for a couple of weeks until you can arrange shipment, if this is your choice. I will also be glad to show you the car if you want to come and look to satisfy yourself that this Alfa is indeed as nice as the pictures. I will also work with your agent on a pre-purchase inspection. Of course, your inspection or your agent's inspection must be completed before the auction closes on October 28 at 9 P.M. (Eastern time zone). A high definition video of the car (walk around and driving) is on YouTube: This video gives you a good feel for how the car looks, drives and sounds. If you like what you've seen so far, 65 high resolution pictures are available at Use Image Hosting. For some reason, eBay will no longer let me list the web address so you can easily see these additional pictures, but email me (robinsgd@wctel.net) and I will send you the link. Study these pictures closely and you'll see how nice this Alfa really is.
