1965 MERCURY COMET "CALIENTE" CONVERTIBLELOW MILES <> HP 289 V8RARE CUSTOM ORDERThis is a 1965 "Hot" Caliente Convertible, full power top, always garaged & heated storage, old school performance add on's to a classic perfomance vehicle. This is a solid & rust free vehicle with actual & documented low 112,300 miles. It has always been appreciated as a muscle car classic, with an older restoration & rebuild to muscle car standards. This is the factory "A" performance code model for this line, with the HP 289 4V engine & 3 speed AT transmission. It was built as a mild street custom, with aluminum intake, vave covers & holley, plus a mild cam & dual exhaust. It has the factory 3.00:1 rear end & 15" rare GT style Ford rims. This performance engine ordered car was factory ordered Polar White, with Ivy Gold Metallic interior. This car is a rare combination of performance & colors that was a May 16, 1965 Custom Order vehicle, with door VIN plate stamped: DSO 54 (Domestic Special Order - Seattle). The Factory Polar White was redone in a deep 2-stage paint & pearlized top coat... pearl coat which is hard to see in the photos but does give this car a slight pink-green-blue pearlized tone when in the bright sun. Car has new convertible top (full power option works great) & custom boot, newer seat covers & all new carpets. The vintage AM radio is not hooked up, as speaker power now goes to the vintage under-dash AM/FM cassette player. The paint is starting to show some edge wear with very minor door edge & corner touch-ups, but overall a very sharp & straight car without any visible past or present damage.
