This Jeep was a frame up restoration of a 1977 CJ-7. Many parts were taken from another 1977 CJ-7, including the V-8, the tires/wheels, seats, etc. A list of the features of this Jeep are: AMC 304 with Edelbrock carb and intake manifold 4 speed manual transmission from the 6 cyl Jeep with re-built driveshafts. New one piece rear axles from Sierra installed last month. 4.11 gears AGR aftermarket power steering 2" body lift MIckey Thompson 15 X 8 wheels with TSL Thornbird tires. (no spare) MORE nerf bars mounted to the frame Fender flares Aluminum rear corner body panels Chrome hinges on the hood and windshield After market springs and shackles 5 point 3" racing harness for both front occupants relocated oil filter to prevent damage common in the 304 padded roll bar fold n stow rear seat is easlily removable Flowmaster exhaust and headers Warn manual hubs Sturdy steel aftermarket bumpers front and rear. This 304 runs very strong. I don't know what the previous owner did internally, but it runs better than the 1974 Model CJ-5 with a 304 I had in high school. The carburetor, intake manifold and headers certainly help it. However, it will crawl due to the 4:10 gearing and the 4 speed transmission we put in it. I always felt the old 3 speed didn't have enough low range. Having done many wheelies up the back side of Elephant Hill as a teenager, I can verify the 3 speed isn't low enough. If I was buying this Jeep, the only thing I would possibly do is to add a fuel injection kit for about $1400 from 4WD.com. You just can't beat fuel inection as the best technology to come along in engine performance. Whether it is a snowmobile, watercraft or lawn mower, FI rocks.
