Vehicle Detail
Available for bid is a fully restored, correct, numbers matching 1966 T120R Triumph Bonneville. 1966 was next to the last year the Bonneville appeared in its true sports form before federal regulations began to load it up with a lot of excess garbage. This pristine Bonnie is an original California delivery vehicle. With a clear California title. The bike was obtained from Al Baker former Baja 1000 winner. It has undergone a complete ground up restoration with no expense spared. Only correct NOS British parts have been used. It retains all of the original Whitworth nuts and bolts, all of which have been acid cleaned and re-plated in the correct number one cad plating. All of the original chrome parts have been re-plated by Model plating of Los Angeles, purveyors of concours quality work. The original stainless fenders have been polished and the undersides sprayed with matte silver acrylic enamel. The original Dunlop rims are re-chromed and fitted with polished stainless spokes by Buchannan’s Wheel Service in Los Angeles. The new tires are the correct Dunlops with new tubes and rim locks. The frame has been acid dipped and black powdered coated gloss black. The gas tank sports the correct 1966 Grenadier Red racing stripes with Gold striping on a White field. The rubber knee pads have been left off because I think it’s a cleaner design that way, however a fresh set goes with the bike if you prefer it that way. All cables, levers, and rubber fittings are new. Shown in the Classic Cafe Racer Style, the bike is currently fitted with Norman Hyde rear sets however, the original pegs, rubbers, brake and shift levers go with it as well. In addition, the bars are inverted for a jockey riding position however, once again, an NOS set of original bars is provided for your choice. Either way, this bike will be a sure fire conversational showpiece while posing in front of your favorite Starbucks. The engine has been rebuilt by one of the West Coast’s legendary Triumph engine builders, the late Jack Hately out of the former Al Baker Triumph shop in Burbank. The ignition is fitted with the very reliable Boyer electronic ignition along with a set of new coils for easy one-kick starting. A new wiring harness has been fitted throughout together with a new battery. Carburation is provided by a set of brand new Amal 30 mm concentrics with competition air filters. Note that the hard to find original air filter along with NOS rubbers and fittings will be yours as well. The exhaust and mufflers are new correct, made in England, replacements. The seat has been recovered in the correct West Coast style. Both the original center and side stands are in place. This machine has been run-in with less than 100 miles of travel. This bike represents countless hours of careful assembly and attention to detail. It most certainly ranks among the top in its class. If you are considering undertaking a restoration project of this sort, I can assure you that you will be far deeper into your pockets than my reserve, not to mention the considerable amount of time required to reach this level of finish. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to acquire a desirable piece of motorcycling history and a hedge on a rapidly appreciating market. Shipping and Payment: IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 5 EBAY FEED BACKS PLEASE CONTACT ME. IF YOUR BID AND PAYMENT HISTORY IS QUESTIONABLE I MAY REMOVE YOUR BID. The bike is sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. All descriptions are correct to the best of my knowledge. Ask any questions you may have before bidding. A $500 nonrefundable deposit must be made at close of auction via Pay Pal with the balance due within five working days. This machine will not leave my location until all funds have cleared my bank. If you are a current bidder and are SERIOUS about bidding please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to discuss the bike and delivery options. On Oct-13-12 at 13:01:13 PDT, seller added the following information: P.S. I apologize for the typo on the word Britain. The ebay system apparently won’t let you delete a picture once it’s listed.
