Vehicle Detail
Killer 81 Turbo Trans Am Pace Car - immaculate and everything works, AC and Cruise - all of it! Drives great, but I let it sit too long and idle is rough. Body is straight and paint is a 7/10. Interior is great 8/10. Has an AM/FM/CD in glove box with era correct in the dash. Was a show car, but I drove it just for fun. Does have a blemish in hood bird as shown in pics. All in all, great car in great shape - don't pay $60,000 for one that's not even a Recaro Edition - you can get this one for alot less!On Oct-07-12 at 17:32:14 PDT, seller added the following information: OK - here's the entire rundown on this car..... The Good - no rust, great looking interior and exterior, former show car, brakes great, everything works as it should including cruise control, comes with a new set of Monroe shocks all around and an extra starter, ECM and spark control unit (just extra stuff that I had on hand) - turbos eat starters due to heat - doesn't need one yet, but it will at some point. No smoke, turbo screams as it should, even exhaust has no surface rust - solid as they get for a 31 year old car. It rides as good as ever! Passed Mississippi vehicle inspection. Even has correct tires that are no longer made. The Bad - has a blemish on hood bird, electric antenna only goes down 85% leaving about 8 inches above the hood, might need a little carb work cuz I let it sit too long (doesn't like to idle, but under way it runs great) you can drive it anywhere, needs freon, but AC cools as it should. Sequential hood turbo boost lights need a sequencer - $20 on Ebay - they light up but don't respond to boost. Overall - one of the nicest ones of these I've seen. Even comes with the brochure used years ago explaining its history. Was apparently won at a race. Fine car that cannot go unnoticed! You will absolutely love the car. It rocks! I'm just getting another collector car on my bucket list! I'll help with shipping if needed. On Oct-07-12 at 18:57:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Thought I'd answered all the questions, but not yet :} Parts are worth - $100 starter, $150 ECM, $100 Spark Controller, $150 4 Monroe Supershocks, so about $500, if you want to sell them....I would keep them. And yes - the in dash clock works just as it should. Keeps time perfectly. Please ask any questions you may have - more importatntly, feel free to inspect before bidding. I've done the best I can to provide as much info as possible. It is financed thru JJ best Banc, so you know it was inspected when I bought it last year. They will be more than happy to finance it for you, too. You'll get a notarized bill of sale and title will come from JJ Best Banc and I. Look at my feedback and bid with confidence. On Oct-07-12 at 19:20:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve is much lower than BIN price, and yes....parts go with car whether you buy it BIN or high bidder. On Oct-08-12 at 04:27:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I do have the T-top covers, and they come with the car as well as all the GM service manuals for this model (about $200 worth of manuals). I also have the original floor mats - faded a little, but in very good shape. I'll even throw in the trophy from the car show. Basically, once you get the carb to act perfectly, you'll have one of the best and most complete Turbo TA's around. I'd also say that the car has been painted at least once from what I can tell, but I'm no real appraiser or collector. On Oct-09-12 at 04:20:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I drove the TA yesterday to work and cruising. The carb is probably going to have to be cleaned, but it runs great when underway. At idle it is rough and at times it stalls out. I dropped the reserve $1000 to cover any carb work you have to have done to be fair. Now you can really get into a collector car cheap. I must say - driving it yesterday really made me want to kep it, but I have to make room for the GTO.On Oct-09-12 at 05:58:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Just got the call from my shipping company - The GTO is on the way, so the next bid will put this car into play - it will release the reserve. Good Luck and happy bidding - somebody is going to get a great collector car (less than 2000 made) that is in excellent condition for a ridiculously low price - my loss is your gain! GOOD LUCK!On Oct-11-12 at 08:58:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Well, I was close - The Classics Car place was in New Jersey, not Georgia - it went to Georgia to be in an ad campaign with The Marshall Tucker Band. I added a few pics from the binder from the Classic Car Group. The build sheet stickers listing all the options (every one available, I think), a pic of the ad campaign with the car in it with The Marshall Tucker Band, and I also added a pic of the manuals that come with the car. There is also a CarFax showing it's history, odometer reading and accident free past. Please contact me if you need any additional information - I'll try my best to help you make an informed decision! While an onsite inspection is recommended, I'll try to answer any and all questions so you are satisfied with your purchase. On Oct-11-12 at 13:13:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Not sure which one of you folks watching the car sent the appraiser down today because he did exactly what you told him to do - he wouldn't tell me anything. He wouldn't even give me his name, much less the name of the person he was representing. He took his Ipad and spent over an hour looking at the car and driving the car. He even jacked it up and inspected every inch of it always adding noted on his Ipad. Once he completed his review, the only thing he would tell me was that it had a small leak in one valve cover that I hadn't mentioned. He said - easy for you to have missed it, though. As he left, I asked him what he thought the value was and he said "can't tell you that either" - "worth a pretty good bit - best one of these I've seen".......and he left. He had a rental car, so I couldn't even tell where he was from. Please......if you are the winning bidder - or even if not - let me know who sent this guy. I would like to have his contact info for later. He absolutely went through the car like he was going to buy it today. He knew his stuff and follwed every rule you gave him - he wouldn't tell me a darn thing!
