Vehicle Detail

1973 Karman Ghia California car. Very reliable original Ghia. Almost finished refurbishing the car. The car was a barn find in storage for 5 years. Removed, flushed and coated the fuel tank with new sender unit. New master brake cylinder and new front disc calipers and lines, New carb and battery, tune up and the Ghia came back to life and still runs great months later. Replacing the interior with a complete $850 kit. New carpet kit, new door panels, new top dash pad, new dash face (not installed yet) new headliner still in box, new seat covers installed. New sport wheel. Tires are OK, good and usable as-is. The body has patina. Dings dents and scrapes as you can see in the pictures. Includes new special fit Ghia roof rack with wood slats. So looks great and fresh inside. Just will not have time for headliner and dash face before the sale closes. Will continue with these items if the car does not sell. A great running Ghia with a nice comfortable new interior. Has some age quirks. Radio does not work, but have not even looked why not. Although the speaker was torn when I placed the new dash top pad on. A couple electrics have blinked on me for a short period sometimes but pop back on, horn and gas gauge etc. but not very often. Hand brake needs adjusting or a new cable. Replaced the big stock air filter with a small one but still have the parts, see pics. Have most of the side trim. The driver side headlight ring has no mounting clip so will not stay on but it is in the trunk along with the 4 wheel beauty rings. Just some simple fixable quirks like that but a really nice running California Ghia with Patina. I do not see any rot in the body, rockers etc. and showed pictures of the wheel wells. A couple small small soft spots felt under the floor mat when I put the carpet in but nornal from years of moisture but nothing of great concern or nothing like an east coast car with a hole that your foot can go through. No other issues like that as you can see in the pics how dry and solid the car is. I am kind of picky so try to mention all I see but by no means is this a gaurantee of every item or issue. It is an old car but runs very well for us every day. I am selling the car cheap with no reserve because it is sold as-is. Please no complaints or regrets for this kind of money. I think it is comparable to about a $4000 Ghia from the examples I see here in California for sale on Samba, but the buyers will set the price on this one. I have over $3600 in the car but I am not concerned with a no reserve auction. Need to cash out and invest in a 66 splitty we are working on. This car does not require any smog check in California. Deposit in 24 hrs paypal, or other, and full payment in 3 days. Cash or bank check. Can store the car for 30 days. I need to go back to Ohio to pick up a car so I CAN DELIVER this Ghia to you along that way for just the cost of diesel and some cheap hotels. No delivery profit. Just want to get there to pick up the other car. For those who see to many junk Ghias with body rot and beat up interiors, you will NOT be disapointed in this car. Thanks. Ask questions. NO RESERVEOn Sep-24-12 at 05:51:37 PDT, seller added the following information: This Ghia has a clear title and registration and is driven daily. On Sep-25-12 at 10:47:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a chance to look closer at the area behind the passenger seat for a bidder who asked about the soft spot there and posted his question and answer below. Have a read. I had not noticed much of any issue while using the car these months. I pushed real hard and got a small area of the floor pan to flex there. Again, please read what I have there and decide for yourself. Thanks. On Sep-26-12 at 07:21:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Answering a few questions, in no particular order. Yes, there is an EMPI quick shifter installed. I have the other shifter in the box if you do not like short-throw shifting and prefer the original. Yes, can store the Ghia for 30 days while you find shipping but payment in full is still required. Yes, the payment period is short but you can manage. We want to get working on the split window bus and it seems that if you don't stick to a payment schedule it drags out for weeks. We need to move on to the next bidder if the buyer does not have funds. For the international buyers asking about shipping, LA harbor is San Pedro and Long Beach and I will deliver the Ghia by my flatbed to the agent there for $50 of fuel for my truck. Takes a tank load of almost $100 but I will split it with you to help the logistics. For you California buyers, I respect collectors that are overseas but as a California guy I like to see California treasures stay here. So do your best. I sell fair, and offer old stuff with no reserve and low priced to overcome any issues that a buyer may come up with. If I sold high-end I would have to address issues but that is not this car and I am not selling it high-end. So bid what you want to pay. There are some wheeler-dealers, not many, who throw big money at a listing to come out on top only to show up and expect to kick the tires and bad mouth the car and expect half price. That is not ethical and I do not have a 100% feedback for entertaining those type of folks. They are resale guys who want to flip the car. Thanks for understanding this.On Sep-28-12 at 17:39:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I am packing up a truck and heading off for 2 weeks to the car parts swap meet in Hershey Penn. on Monday. My son is here to hand over the car or meet your shipper if you get here before I get back. No issue storing the Ghia for up to 30 days while you find a shipper. The Ghia WILL sell. If you are high bid please comply with the payment. We need funds, not debt issues. God Bless. On Sep-29-12 at 06:08:32 PDT, seller added the following information: We are in Temecula, California. Hour north of San Diego. Hour east of LA.
