Vehicle Detail

1977 Cougar Wagon Ford made a mid-size Cougar wagon one year. They only made a few thousand and only a scant few survive (a dozen or so known). It's also the largest mid-size car ever produced. Of course, no one would believe it's a mid-size by today's standards. Car came from California with about 45 K. My dad drove the car a few miles to work daily for about 8 years. He worked as a fleet mechanic for a power company and even built engines for Gary Bettenhausen (long-time Indy driver) when he ran a machine shop in the Chicago area. He meticulously maintained the car and fixed everything before he died. The past few years, we've used the car sparringly, only using the car as a backup when servicing our primary drivers. During that time, we've kept the fluids fresh. Recent computer and a couple hundred in parts come with the car (new in box, brakes, hardware, and a smog component, maybe a few more). It has little rust, runs great and drives straight. The car was hit twice and could easily be restored (sheet metal damage). Fortunately, as rare as the car is, it shares most parts with 77-78 LTD IIs, Rancheros, and XR-7 so parts are still plentiful. I found a front fender for $150 for instance. The power steering system leaks too, probably pump seals or hoses. I thought about restoring it but I'm a Mopar guy. I listed the car with no reserve but I started the price at scrap value plus a little more because it does have a really good motor. I know you can punch it out to 431 and top 500 hp with the right set up. I also have 15" tires on the back (much better handling) and the original wheels come with it along with a pair of back seats from a Range Rover I thought about modifying to put in for a third row of seats.
