Well its sad to say I have to let go of her. I've had her since high school, but I just don't use her enough and storage has become an issue. I just had "The Thing" inspected a couple months ago and everything was fine except for it needed a new lightbulb for the license plate. Everything is good mechanically. That being said it still is an old volkswagen. It takes a bit to warm up, you have to really push on the brakes and it vears a little when you do so. But overall I've had no major problems with it since I got the current motor (from another Thing) about 10 years ago. It has a more recent new Carb and exhaust. The tires are extra wide in the rear especially ( I took it on the sand up at Cape Cod a few years back). Lots of tread left on the tires. The top is in need of repair. You can get it to go up and it will give you a little protection, but really needs to be restored. The body is solid, but once again has some dings and some rust spots. Floor boards could use replacement. Really could benefit from a complete restoration or could just be driven as is as I have been doing for the past 10 years. New battery this year. I have a new carpet kit that I have never put in it. It also comes with a spare tire and a working tow bar. It has a 2" reciever hitch on the back that I used to pull my old little fishing boat or for a bike rack. It also has wiring to hook up to a trailer. The heater has been removed and so there is no heat. It does have a CD player and 4 so-so speakers. I've had a lot of fun with this car, I'd love her to find a good home for someone who would appreciate her and possibly even restore her.
