The American was the second incarnation of AMC's forerunner Nash Motors second-generation Rambler compact that was sold under the Nash and Hudson Motors marquees from 1954 and 1955. The American can be classified in three distinct model year generations: 1958 to 1960, 1961 to 1963, and 1964 to 1969. During the entire length of its production, the car was sold under the Rambler brand name, and was the last Rambler named automobile marketed in the Canadian and United States markets. The American went on sale late January 1958, with a minimum of marketing and promotion. It was available in two trims, a base Deluxe model priced at $1,789 (Allowing AMC to claim the lowest-priced car made in America) and as a Super trim version for $1,874 with more "luxuries". The car was advertised as being the only small car with an automatic transmission. All Americans were completely dipped in rust proofing. The automotive press was positive to the reintroduced model. Tom McCahill wrote in Mechanix Illustrated, "There isn't a better buy in the world today." He continued, "The Rambler American is an ideal-size small family car. It will give up to 30 miles on a gallon of gas (and more, with overdrive) and will outperform any imported sedan selling for under $2,000 except in the cornering department. It is by far the most rattle and squeak free 1958 Detroit product I've driven-and I've driven them all!" The car you see here is a wonderful customization of a ’59 Rambler American that is an incredibly clean, great driving car BEING SOLD AT NO RESERVE. The red paint on the car looks great and shows no major imperfections to speak of. There has been custom pin striping applied around the car which is a great touch and makes the car come alive. Both front and rear bumpers have been painted black and look great, complimented by the stainless and black wheels. Inside, the interior has been reupholstered and is in very good overall condition with diamond pleaded seats and door panels. All of which are in good condition with no major wear showing. The carpet is newer and in great condition. The dash and steering wheel both appear to be original. The steering wheel does show some cracking. Under the hood, the inline six cylinder runs great and is connected to a three speed manual transmission. The motor has been nicely painted as well as the engine compartment which looks great. No damage to be found under the hood. On the road, the car drives very smooth and straight with good power. These little cars are known for their great gas mileage! The wheels are BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s that have good tread life left on them. The mileage currently shows 75,949 which is said to be actual for the car but we have no documentation to prove this. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold "AS IS". We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective. All disputes arising out of or resulting from this sale shall be finally determined by binding arbitration in St. Louis, Missouri in accordance with the commercial rules of arbitration of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be carried out by one or more arbitrators in accordance with said rules. Any award shall be enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction in the same manner as judgments. This agreement to arbitrate shall survive the sale of the automobile described herein. Buyer and Seller hereby agree that Missouri law shall control for all purposes under this Bill of Sale. Buyer and Seller hereby consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Missouri to specifically enforce the agreement to arbitrate and to enter judgment of and enforce the award of the arbitrator. All above terms and conditions are applied to vehicle sales, whether through Ebay or otherwise. Sorry, but in all fairness to the bidding process, I will NOT disclose my reserve price until the auction has ended. Payment Terms Payment must be made by Cashiers Check, Money Orders or Wire Transfers payable in US Dollars. A Refundable deposit in the amount of $500.00 must be received within Twenty-Four(24)hours of the auctions close either by Master Card, Visa or PayPal. The buyer has seven(7) days from close of auction to inspect the vehicle. If the vehicle is not to your liking within this seven day inspection period then your deposit will be refunded 100%. If an inspection or decision takes longer then seven days and you find the vehicle not to your liking, your deposit will be forfeited and the car will be relisted. Final payment must be received within ten (10) days of the auction close. The refundable deposit only applies if you or an agent inspect said vehicle in St. Louis and find it not to your liking. I will not be responsible for buyers remorse or problems found to said vehicle once they have left my property. I am just being realistic, most of the cars I deal in are vintage and by their very nature will need TLC and some degree of attention sooner or later. These are not new cars and should not be treated as such. Once full payment has been received, Seller will fax a copy of clear title, Bill of sale, Buyers guide and additional DMV forms to the Buyer to sign and return via fax. The forms must be returned to the Seller prior to the shipment of said vehicle. Original paperwork will be sent to Buyer Via overnight mail seven(7)days from date of final payment. Transportation will commence only after final payment and signed documentation are received. Once a car is picked up from our premises, you will NOT be able to return the car.
