Up for Sale is a 1997 AWD GMC Hi Top Safari Explorer Van. I bought the vehicle on Ebay from a Massachusetts licensed dealer in 2008 when it had 118K miles. I was told that it had 1 previous owner who bought the van new. This was strictly a secondary car for long trips or transporting more than 5 people. My observation is that everyone is smiling when we are driving around together and playing a movie. Over the past couple years, new parts include 4 shocks, gas filler tube, rear wheel cylinders, A/C compressor, starter, alternator, and battery. The engine, transmission, TV, 6 CD player, air conditioning, power windows, lights, cruise control, etc. work properly. It does not leak any fluids that I know of. The van drives straight and doesn't shake at high speeds on the highway. The interior is in very good condition and does not seem to have been smoked in. The van was recently inspected and is currently on the road. It can sit for long periods of time and starts right up. There are some rust spots I have patched and touched up on the front fenders and driver's side rocker panel. I tried to capture the spots in the pictures. Overall I would say the vehicle is quite reliable. There are a few reasons I'm selling the vehicle. The main reason is that we use it very little now that the kids are grown and driving their own cars. Also, after some recent brake work, my mechanic informed me that the rear suspension mounts need plates welded in. He recommended that I not drive it on the highway anymore until it is fixed. I wished he told me that before I had new rear wheel cylinders installed. Because of the suspension mount issue I am selling the van for parts or repair. I would be willing to drive the van to a local location or shipping hub within 30 miles of Groton,MA.
