Vehicle Detail
1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 project to finish! This is a great project with a ton of the hard work and expense done. I bought this project as a roller fastback with almost everything you see here done by the previous owner. I bought it without an engine or transmission. I had a smooth running 1966 289-2V and I 1968 4-speed top loader manual transmission I installed. Other than brakes and drive shaft this car is mostly complete! It starts and runs very good. On the engine I have... new starter new fuel pump new fuel lines new fuel tank new sending unit new coil rebuilt alternator rebuilt 2 barrel carburator new points, plugs, cap, condenser new front shocks new voltage regulator The car has front disc brake rotors that need replaced or turned. I also have the original master cylinder, distribution block, and proportion valve. I have a pair of disc calipers that you can use as a core for a rebuilt pair. Not sure on the year. They have a single piston design? so maybe 1968? Also included is an Autolite 4 barell carburator and Edelbrock intake to put the engine back to correct A code 4 barrell 225 HP 289 V8. The original AX quick steering ratio box is still on the car. Normally used on GT optioned cars. It also has the rear reinforced seatbelt hold downs, 65 five guage GT gauge package with the correct dash curve, as well as the GT style rear rails. The previous owner has changed the radiator support and both front aprons so can't find out about the original fog lamp holes. On the interior just about everything was done... new carpet new kick panels new instrument bezel new instrument bezel lens new glove box door new front seat upholstery new fold down seat upholstery with carpet sections new headliner new rear view mirror new sunvisors new sunvisor rods and tips new door panels new arm rest pads and bases new ignition switch and keys new seat side trim chrome The complete dash, door shells, rear interior panels were removed and repainted. There are a few scrapes after sitting for a while since being painted. Not sure what gauges are working since not a driving car yet. Original AM radio is included but not working. The interior is where you can save you thousands in expenses lots of hours of labor! The fastback body is sprayed in black primer so you can decide what color you want to build your dream fastback, SHELBY tribute or wild RESTOMOD! The previous owner had installed rear quarters pretty good. I would not replace them, fenders are new after market, Hood is new after market with 65/66 SHELBY bolt on hood scoop. The 1966 Shelby side scoops are functional with with ductwork into the rear wheel wells. The previous owner should have taken more time when doing the 1966 Shelby quarter windows. The plexiglass and outer trim fit great, but the inside area needed a little more triming to make the inside covers fit better. New 1966 Shelby gas cap connected the the brand new fuel tank, sending unit and fuel lines. The floors were done maybe 20 years ago and will need some additional work. Not sure if you would replace them or cut a section to make them fit solid and line up everywhere. You can definately keep the car as is and make a driver out of it without doing more bodywork if you want. Flat clear sprayed over the black primer is the latest trend. With the all new interior, Keystone Klassic Wheels and tires, good running 289 along with new front brakes and drive shaft you could really have a great driver! The Keystone Klassics need the correct offset washers and lugs to make sure bolted down correctly. I am selling this to finance a 1967 Mustang fastback purchase so PLEASE no trade offers. If you don't have cash in hand ready to buy this car please don't waste my time. I am on to the next project and need the cash. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty. This is a project car and there will be a few missing parts along the way. Really not that far off from being a $30,000 cruiser! Please don't bid if you can't make a $100 NON refundable deposit right away. Cash upon pick up of vehicle. If you have a cashiers check, my bank will place a few day hold to make sure funds are guaranteed. Transportation is not included but I can help with your transporter. Remember in getting a quote, that it is currently NON operating car. I am in central Nebraska right off of Interstate 80, so very easy for transporters or if you want to pick up in person. Please email me with any additonal questions you might have. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks!
