Vehicle Detail
This is a real U.S. Carrera Targa. These are very rare, as there were only 174 Targa Carrera's built in 1975. The original color is light yellow with paint code 117. The wheels are in great shape with no curb rash or bruises. They are extremely rare Romotec sixteen inch wheels and are manufactured in West Germany and are of great quality. They are nine inch on the rear and eight inch on the front. This is a low reserve auction. This vehicle runs and drives nicely. It has a 2.7 liter flat 6 cylinder engine. The transmission shifts and works well. The second gear syncro grinds a little if the shift is rushed. Brakes are four wheel ventilated discs and work well. Everything works as it should with the exception of the fog lights. They may work well with some new lenses and bulbs. This is a great way to obtain this rare Carrera especially if you are handy with a welder. There is rust as evidenced in the photos. The good news is that the floor pans appear to be solid. All suspension mounting points also are solid. These Carreras are catching on with the collector crowd as they are more rare than the coveted 1973 Carrera. This car has the same rear fender flares as the earlier 1973 Carrera. In addition this year car is emission exempt in California which means the engines can be modified for greater power. The whale tail rear spoiler was first offered on the Carrera RSR and carried over to the early turbos. The targa top is in great shape both inside and out. The seals appear to be in great shape. The early Carreras were the first Porsche offered with blacked out door handles, window frames, and wipers. Included in the sale is one repair panel for the passenger door striker plate, and one door pocket. The car has a tool kit and case. Also included are original jack and space saver spare. This is a great entry point for this rare Carrera. Please note that the rear decklid shows a 3.0. This is not accurate as the engine is a 2.7. This vehicle also has the upgraded H-4 headlights. Low reserve auction! High value classic after restoration!
