Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a Colorado 1968 Dodge Charger RT, stripe delete. The vehicle had an amatuer restoration completed on it back in 1996 and some areas need attention again. I want to be completely upfront about the vehicle and for this reason I have over 100 pictures and videos you can view by going to Photobucket at: http://s1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc368/pringle70/1968%20Dodge%20Charger/ The vehicle is gorgeous, and is what I would call a good 20 footer with the blue/white/white color combination. I have videos on photobucket of me driving the vehicle, performing a walkaround, and closing all doors/trunk to show how easily they all close. The car receives constant attention from the public when being driven and is a blast to drive. The reason I'm selling the vehicle is because I was under the impression the vehicle was a 100% numbers matching vehicle, which I'm sorry to say it is not. While the engine is a'68 440 HP engine it unfortunatley doesn't match the VIN. The transmission is believed to be the original that came with the vehicle but I am not 100% sure. The engine number is located on the bottom of the block just in front of the transmission, making it an early '68 block and the reason I couldn't find the engine number when I originally purchased it. As you can see in the pictures the vehicle is beautiful!!! While the vehicle has been repainted I am happy to say the vehicle is of its original color, with white vinyl top, and white interior. The car is a 440/727 with the 3 speed on the column, which again is very rare. The car runs, drives, and is very comfortable to cruise in. The condition of the interior is very impressive as you will see in the pictures. The transmission shifts beautifully, with no clunks or jerks, entire drive system checks out great! The engine appear to leak some oil and has never been overhauled having 108,000 miles on it. So, while the engine starts and runs great I would recommend a freshing up. I beleive it would run like a top with new plugs and going through the carb. The timing is set good, compression is descent for 108k miles, and vacuum gauge pulls a strong 15. The good: -Interior/Dash -Condition of wheels, vinyl top, condition beneath rear window, chrome trim -GRILL!!!! Working Hide-aways and Lights (Checkout video) -Mostly original components (Numbers correct weatherstripping, intake manifold, water pump, exhaust manifolds, engine, transmission, rear-end, heater box, etc.) -While not #'s matching is a correct '68 440 HP engine -HD 8 3/4 rear end, posi, 3.23 gears -Believe all lights to work - Floor boards appear to be in descent shape - New Fuel Pump What it needs: - Needs Trunk - Typical rear frame rails - Torsion bar cross members possibly - Rockers - Quarters will need attention soon - Trunk lid / Hood will need cleaning up I am more than happy to answer any additional quesions you may have, or provide additional pictures if there was a square inch I missed. Unfortunately, I will be out of town starting Wednesday evening and not returning until late Saturday night, so I won't have access to the vehicle at that time. If you are near Denver, CO you are more than welcome to come see the vehicle. I would like to arrange a single time on Tuesday the 21st for anyone in the area to come look at it. There is a reserve set on the vehicle and to prevent a ton of people contacting me and asking what its set at I'll tell you that its set at $10,000. I anticipate the vehicle will sell for much more than that. The T's & C's. Any bidder having zero or no feedback will need to email me first before bidding on the vehicle or I will delete their bid. All sales are final and the vehicle is being purchased "AS-IS". Once the vehicle has been won the winning bidder will send $500 to my paypal account within 48 hours of the auction closing. The remaining balance will be paid through certified check, money order, or cash before the vehicle leaves my possession. I would appreciate being paid fully and the vehicle picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing. Happy Bidding and contact me with any questions, as I will try to email back within 24 hours. On Aug-19-12 at 14:08:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I can already anticipate someone asking me what I consider a "Good 20 Footer". I consider a good 20 footer as being a 6-7 out of 10.On Aug-19-12 at 18:05:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I was just under the vehicle to gather a bit more information since there appears to be quite a bit of interest in this vehicle from all the questions I'm getting. I want to inform you all that the drivers side floor boards need to be replaced, the passenger side is iffy but to be safe you may want to replace it as well. I took a picture of the engine block number which I will post later today or tomorrow on Photobucket, along with other photos of the bottom of the car. The torsion bar cross members do in fact need to be replaced. The rear floor boards and rear cross member above the rear axle appears to be in good condition, pics to follow. There is a bolt missing from the oil pan and the drain bolt itself leaks, so just a little bit of attention there. I took many more pics of the underside of the car which I will post later today to Photobucket. If you have any questions please email me. Thank you! On Aug-20-12 at 10:10:58 PDT, seller added the following information: NUMBERS MATCHING ENGINE!!!!! A couple of gentlemen informed me that I was looking in the incorrect area for the engines corresponding VIN#. After taking their advice and looking at the back of the top of the block I have found the matching VIN#, tying the engine to the car. I have posted pictures of the engine stamp to the Photobucket website, along with a few other pictures of the engine, verifying its build date. I also noticed the vehicle still has its original red lined heater hoses and posted a picture of that as well. I will be attempting to verify the transmission number later this evening. Attention to all bidders there is a possibility I will be ending this auction early, so that I can repost that this car does in fact have its original engine in place. I appreciate your understanding with this matter. On Aug-20-12 at 21:00:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes, another update. I have decided to keep the auction going and not re-list the car upon learning the engine is in fact the original numbers matching power plant. Please keep the questions coming and happy bidding!!!
