Vehicle Detail

Our youngest is going to college, and the cost is higher than we expected, so I need to sell my Mercedes. I bought the car last year to have fixed up, and have never gotten around to taking it to a mechanic. In fact, I have still not even driven the car down the street from when it came off the truck to me for delivery. It has some really good potential. I'll list the goods and the bads about this car, and let you decide if it's something you're interested in owning. Let me also tell you that I am no car expert. I bought this car because I liked the way it looked, so I'll do my best at answering your questions, but some I just may not know the answers to. First, the goods. I'm sure the car was repainted at some point, because the paint looks very good for such an old car. There is no rust, no rust bubbles anywhere on the car. The interior must have been redone also, because the seat covers look brand new (I looked the pattern up on the internet - they look like "MB Tex"). The door panels and headliner are in good shape, and there is a dash cover that has been installed that looks really good - it molds right into the gauge openings, so you have to really look to know it's there. The carpeting in the interior and the trunk is in really good shape. There is a spare tire in the trunk, and the jack is there also. The car has a newer Pioneer stereo with disc player, which is all in working order. The gas gauge, tachometer and temp gauge work. So does the fan. The exterior lights all work, including the turn signals, brake lights and headlights. The hood has an insulation panel that looks newer as well. Now, the bads/unknowns. The car starts and seems to run well, but after about two minutes, the idle speed comes down and the engine starts to sputter a little bit (about another minute or so) and then dies. The engine runs well enough that I can move the car in and out of the garage, but I have never attempted to drive the car down the street. Two of the four power windows work. I've never tried to fix a power window, so I don't know what the issue is. The ac condenser is there, but no belt - this is another item that I was going to have a mechanic look at, but I haven't, and don't know whether the system is good or not. Looks like the tires are old and need to be replaced. The interior lights need attention - I don't know if it's an issue of bulbs, or fuses. I have no idea about the transmission, but it does take a second for drive and reverse to kick in. I don't know if that means it needs a new transmission, or if the fluid is low. The back window has some haziness around the bottom of the window. I'm not sure what it is, but you can check one of the pictures I have attached to make an educated guess. I've set the reserve lower so it will sell. Maybe this is a good car for someone who knows Mercedes mechanicals to buy. This car has no warranty attached, and I will consider your deposit non-refundable. If you want to ask me questions, fire away, and I'll try to answer them. I have no way to ship you the car, so you'll need to arrange for your own shipping. Thanks and good luck!
