Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a 1980 Trans Am with a Turbocharged 4.9 V-8 engine. It originally came with a 4 barrel carburetor, but last year that was swapped out for fuel injection. It starts easier, idles more smoothly, and accelerates much better. The car has 54,777 original miles. I have many pieces of paperwork documenting the mileage over the years. It had 37,000 miles in 1998 when it was purchased by the second owner. She kept it for many years, until her son bought it from her and registered it in Florida. I got the car last month in a trade, and its really too new for my taste. I prefer older cars ( mainly 1955-1957 Chevys, 1967-1970 Camaros, 1965, 1967, 1969, and 1970 Chevelles, 1967 Novas, Corvettes before 1973, 1965 Rivieras, and a few select others), so I'm offering it for sale to someone who loves these more than I do. The engine runs perfectly. No knocking, rattling, leaking, overheating, or any other issues. It needs nothing, except for maybe a normal tune up. I've driven it very little since I got it, but I did drive it some when the previous owner, a friend of mine, owned it. It runs very well, the transmission shifts perfectly, and the 4 wheel disc brakes work like they should. The lights, wipers, turn signals, brake lights, etc all work. The air conditioning works, the power windows work, and if you're into that sort of thing...it has a kick ass stereo. I was told over $4000 was spent on making and installing the stereo. The dash is uncut, and anything modified to install the stereo can easily be undone if you want to go back to a stock type radio. I have a lot of paperwork on the car from it's history, and best of all...I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET. There are a lot of clones, fakes, and wannabees out there, but this is a real Turbo Trans Am, and I have all of the codes, options, and other info that the car came with. There are more than I want to type, but I'll list a few of the big ones; B18 CUSTOM INTERIOR, B97 FRONT AND REAR WHEEL SPOILERS, CC1 HATCH ROOF, D53 HOOD DECAL, D80 REAR SPOILER, F41 REAR STABILIZER BAR, GU4 3.08 REAR AXLE RATIO, G80 POSITRACTION REAR J65 FOUR WHEEL DISC BRAKES, LU8 V-8 TURBO, N90 CAST ALUMINUM WHEELS, T47 TURBO HOOD, WS4 TRANS AM, WV6 GOLD GRAPHICS, YR1 CUSTOM FRONT SEATS, YS1 CUSTOM REAR SEATS Y84 BLACK SPECIAL EDITION, 621 CAMEL TRIM, 62X BIG 4 CAMEL There are a lot of other ones, but those seem to be the big ones. The car was built at the Van Nuys, California Plant, and shipped to Lake Orion, Michigan. The paint and body are good, but not show quality. There isn't any rust anywhere on the car. The underneath is completely rust-free as well. The exhaust is excellent, and other than a good clean up, maybe a tune up, and a new owner...nothing else is needed. The decals are older, but I think I have another set that came with the car. I also have the original T-Top storage bags. There is a scratch on the driver's door glass where it was hit by a rock, and there are a few minor dings that don't really show up in photos. Please, ask questions BEFORE you bid. You can call or text me at 941-740-2277 (texts are always better, and I can almost always answer texts more quickly than calls). You can email me with questions, and send info and pictures if you're offering a trade, at northshorebill@aol. If I can't answer them, I'll ask the previous owner, or put you in contact with him and you can ask him whatever you like. We work next door to each other, so he's usually not very far away from me. The car is being listed to be sold, but trades are possible. If you have something like I listed earlier, feel free to send me photos and information. No Projects, No Boats, and No Motorcycles. I would rather sell it, but I know money is tight and sometimes swapping for another vehicle is all we can do. It's garaged, paid for, and isn't being sold to buy food. If it doesn't sell, I won't lose any sleep. I just figured someone out there is dying for one of these. Dealers, exporters, overseas buyers, and anyone else is welcomed to bid, just please honor it. The car is located in Port Charlotte, about 90 miles south of Tampa, FL. You can fly in and drive it home, or I will assist in shipping any way I can. I can drive the car to a convenient, local location for a shipper to load it up. Smokey, Smoky, Bandit, TA, Burt Reynolds
