Vehicle Detail
Though I hate to see it go, I am selling my 1993 240sx Super HICAS to make room for a new project. This car spent most of its life in Atlanta Georgia until I picked it up and brought it to Wisconsin. At that time the car was already in excellent condition with very low miles and fairly good original paint. However, when I acquired it there were a few dents and imperfections typical for a 19-year-old car. I seldom drove the car and never in the winter. The car has always been garaged since I have owned it. I decided to have the body fully restored and had the work done at a high end body shop. The car was first stripped of the original paint and all the dents and dings were removed using very minimal body filler. The seats, carpet and all other interior panels (minus the dash) were taken out and I installed Fat Mat sound insulation (replica of Dynamat) on as much of the interior as possible. I also ran speaker wires for future audio upgrades. The head unit in this car works, but there are no speakers connected at this time. I will include the speakers that came with the car, however they will not be installed. With the interior complete, the paintwork began. I requested the original cherry red pearl paint code but with more layers of clear coat. They applied this paint using a new water based formula rather than using an acrylic-based paint. Waterborne paint is much more durable and shows a very deep and pure color, superior to that of old acrylic paints. Also, the factory black sticker stripe that wraps most of the car was ditched for a black painted stripe and the “SUPER HICAS” logo is a custom cut vinyl overlay on the black stripe. This vinyl perfectly replicates the original logo in size and font; it just looks a lot more striking. There was no significant body rust as this is a low mileage southern car. A problem area for these cars is under the OEM spoiler which is prone to rusting. This one still had perfect factory finish under the spoiler. The interior is in excellent condition except the seats and the steering wheel. The fabric on the seats is original and has stretched some. The steering wheel looks fine with a new cover. The dash on this car is not cracked which is a good indicator that this car was often garaged prior to me purchasing it. Most of these cars get cracked dashes from too much sun exposure. The car comes with the original rims, as well as the 17-inch XXR 962’s in the pictures. One of the 17-inch rims has some rash from getting too close to a curb. The front turn signals and side markers have been upgraded to smoked clear lenses and the turn signals are switch back LED’s. The switch back LED's are amber color unless the headlights are on. With headlights on they alternate between white and amber. A new Borla exhaust system was put on for better flow and sound. The original is available with the car if wanted and is in good shape. A polished aluminum air intake with a cone filter is installed. The original air intake parts are included with the sale of the car. There is a factory panel for blocking sun through the sun-roof. The panel is stored in the factory original storage case. The air conditioning works excellent and was putting out 38 degree cold air on one of our hotter days. The steering is tight. The brakes are smooth. The transmission is quiet and shifts smoothly. The clutch is smooth and easy to operate. The power antenna works. There are no major issues for operation, but the original shocks probably need replacing. There are other small things I am probably forgetting, so feel free to ask questions if there is something that I missed. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
