Vehicle Detail
This is a 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel featuring the W123 Chassis. Features: This car has been modified to run off of Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) and diesel. This conversion was done using a Plant Drive kit, the Mercedes Singletank Kit with Vormax Fuel Filter. It also has an Arctic Fox in-tank fuel heater installed as part of the conversion. Included in the auction are 3 barrels of filtered waste vegetable oil (~150gallons). Other items include an electric fuel pump for transfering the WVO from the barrels to the tank, spare Vormax fuel filters, and a few boxes of other spare parts that were given to me by a friend who used to have 300D's. Condition: Body: The body was repainted about 6 years ago. There is a small dent & scratch on the passenger door, that can be hard to see at certain angles. Practically no rust. I've only seen rust around the battery.Engine: The engine has run on a combination of diesel and vegetable oil for the past 6 years. In the winters I put diesel and in the summers I use vegetable oil. The times between are just a mixture depending on the weather. I replaced the belts about eight months ago and since there has been an engine shake on startup, but it smooths out once the engine warms up.Transmission: The transmission was replaced about 5 years ago.Tires: New 40K mile tires in 2011. Also, there are two spare tires because of a donation by my 300D friend. One may be flat, but the other was used prior to the new tires.Interior: The dash has the typical cracks, but the seats are in great condition. The dash panel had a leak get into the bottom light area that has the glowplug light, but I've not tried to clean that up (I prefer to stay out of dashes).Windows: The sunroof works. The rear driver's side window works but sometimes gets stuck all the way up or stops 1/2" short of all the way up. All other windows work fine, including the passenger side sideview window. History: I've owned the car for over six years. I bought it from a family that may have been the original family. They traveled from California in it back in the late 80's or early 90's to South Carolina. It was passed around in their family until I bought it. A mechanic friend and I did the conversion shortly after I purchased the car. I've performed minor maintenance myself, but I always would defer to a professional for larger tasks. Shipping and Payment: I'd prefer to not ship this car. Partly because of the three barrels of vegetable oil. If you don't want the vegetable oil and want the car shipped you will need to make the arrangements. I will assist with the pickup, if possible, but shipping cost are on you. I will accept Paypal and cash. On Aug-13-12 at 05:14:37 PDT, seller added the following information: ** On the hood to the right of the grill there is a spot that has rust damage. It is visible if you enlarge the pictures. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
