1986 ASC McLaren "SC" Convertible! This 1986 ASC McLaren Mercury Capri Convertible is one of only 245 Convertibles built during the 1986 model year by ASC Mclaren. This car has the optional "SC" package which includes the unique Recaro Seats, Unique Door Panels, Center Console, Air Horns and Whistler Spectodyne Radar Detector. The car also has the McLaren "Performance Decor Package" which includes the Ground Effects Body Package, 140 MPH Speedometer and more. This car is factory equipped with the 5.0 Fuel Injected V8, Automatic Overdrive Transmission, 8.8 Traction-Lok 3.08 Rear-end, Power Rack & Pinion Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Tilt Steering, Factory Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, American Racing Aluminum Mesh Wheels, Tach & Gauges, Handling Package Suspension and More! The car shows 113,000 miles. Since this car is over 10 years old we are selling the car as "Mileage Exempt" paperwork purposes. Under the hood the car is very complete. This includes the 5.0 302 engine which is complete with all the accesories, air conditioning, factory headers, factory H pipe with catalytic converters, McLaren installed radar detector, air horns and air pump, brakes etc. The engine run great and start immediately. The transmission shifts good along with a nice quiet STOCK apprearing exhaust. All the suspension appears to be original and good condition. The ARE wheels are in excellent condition with NO curb marks or damage. The tires are in good condition but mismatched brand wise. The air conditioning does not blow cold. The air conditioning system is still a completely stock R12 system that has NOT been upgraded to the new 134 refrigerant. The body on the car is in good condition. The car has been repainted. The paint is good driver quality paint. The front bumper cover is good along with the front air dam. The grill is original and in good condition. The front fenders appear original and are in nice condition along with the original hood. The car still has the original front "Carlite" windshield and side glass. The doors are original to the car and in good condition with the unique ASC McLaren "wings" at the top of the doors. The passenger door as a small amount of rust appearing at the bottom seam of the door. No rust through at all so please refer to the pictures for more detail. The rear quarter panels appear original and are in good condition. The rear trunklid is good. The rear tailights, tailight panel and rear bumper cover are in good condition. The underside of the car is excellent with NO rust at all! The car appears to have been rust-proofed when new and still in excellent condition. Please refer to the pictures. The interior of the is original as delivered from ASC Mclaren. The car has the expensive upgraded Recaro seats in cloth. The ASC upgraded console is original along the with the ASC upgraded door panels. The dash pad has a crack and therefore has a cover over the pad. ALL the gauges work properly along with all the interior lights, headlights, tailights, key buzzer, turn signals, emergency flashers and power windows. The power door locks do not work. The radio is an aftermarket DIN style radio with CD that works. The original ASC McLaren steering wheel is still on the car. The tilt steering is tight. All the seat belts are complete along with all the ASC McLaren rear compartment trim. The convertible top appears to the be the original top. The top is in decent condition but appears to have shrunk over the years as Hartz Cloth tops tend to do. The front header on the soft top is excellent along with the latches. The rear top bow pull down motor does not work and therefore the rear top latch does not engage. The right rear plastic window has a 1 inch split in the clear plastic. The rear trunk area of the car is nice and complete with the original ASC McLaren installed chassis braces in veiw. The trunk carpet appears original along with what appears to be the original spare tire. Overall this car appears to be a once painted and good original 1986 ASC McLaren convertible.
