Vehicle Detail

This is a 1953 Olds 88 2 door sedan. I am the second owner of the car and I've had it for over 30 years. It has been sitting most of that time and would need to be completely gone through to make it streetable. However, with that said, it is a solid car. It has some surface rust which can be seen in the photographs and most of that is light. There is a pinhole at the front of the hood where water has dripped on it. The stainless is all there with one piece (pass. door) knocked off. The pot metal parts are pitted and the bumpers would need to be rechromed. The bottom of the car, floor and rockers, is in good shape. The passenger window and vent window are cracked but the rest of the glass is good. The powerplant is a 303c.i. V-8 and it has a 4-speed hydramatic trans. The engine and trans have never been out. It has the original hubcaps and fender skirts. It's may be missing a couple of small interior items or underhood items, but the vast majority of the car is there. I'm in a money pinch so please don't try to talk me down on price, yet! Any form of payment is good as long as it clears before the title changes hands or the car is loaded up. You will need to tow or trailer it with trailering being the better choice. This is a very solid project car. My aunt was the original owner. Look at the pictures and ask questions. The car is located about 25 miles west of Charlotte NC.On Aug-11-12 at 21:03:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added some additional photographs, these were taken today, the 11th of August, so check them out if interested. They may give you a better idea of the condition of the vehicle. I can't guarantee the condition of anything or any part that I can't see or dig into, so keep that in mind when bidding. The new images may allow you to see some of the surface rust areas as well as the areas where the turquoise paint looks almost new. The paint is original, as well as the interior upholstery, radio, floor mats, gas pedal heel pad, etc. One of the pictures is taken looking up under the dash, and you can see how clean that area is, probably due to the fact that a window was never broken out. The vast majority of the car is original 1953 Olds. The yellow plug wires and stupid steering wheel are the work of a silly young dude (meaning me) back in the early 80's. I think I messed with the fuel pump and probably screwed up one of the fuel lines to the carb, but all that will have to be gone through anyway before being roadable. I did purchase new exhaust tubing back then, but it has been stored inside the car for 30 years or so and I would assume that it is still usable. My apologies for being slow replying to questions or if I missed one. Reserve questions are now out as it's already there but if I can answer any other questions, please ask and I'll do my best to provide an accurate answer asap. Thanks. On Aug-13-12 at 06:41:02 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been a number of inquiries concerning the condition of the body. If it was rust-free, I would say that. I feel that the main body shell is in good condition and most, if any, rust issues will be found at the front of the fenders when the grill/bumper assy comes off. However, I don't think even that will be a major issue. Keep in mind that I can't tell you what's under the window mouldings or under the stainless and pot metal trim. If you have any questions, we can speak by phone if that suits you. I would actually prefer that as it's much easier to talk about it than to type it. Thanks for looking.
