Vehicle Detail

I reserve the right to end this listing at anytime. Car is listed for sale locally so if you are interested please call me at 813-966-6453, Mike I have a family friend who only does door to door, insured shipping, and will do so at a very reasonable rate. Let me know and I will provide you her contact information for a quote or you can inquire through the other shippers like DAS and others. “Barn Find” – Actually Garage Find in storage from 1982 to 2011 (29 years) with Original Owner 1976 Datsun 280Z --- I purchased from the ORIGINAL owner who parked and put into climate control garage storage back in 1982 in Acworth, GA (near Atlanta). They own a large farm and parked the car in one of their large storage garages where they store their tractors, etc. It was climate controlled and was stored in a corner with a car cover over the car. Before it was parked the owner had the fuel tank and radiator drained, battery removed and sprayed the cylinder heads before putting her away. The Z reflects 39,8XX miles and I believe it to be the original miles based on the condition of the car including the interior and limited wear and tear overall. The owner's son sold me the car because his mother was up in age and wanted to see it brought back from storage. His mother could not remember if the mileage was 39xxx or 139xxx due to her age. The son told me his mother drove it around town during the first 6 years in her hometown of Acworth, GA then decided to park and store it. I have the original owners contact information and will provide the new owner should you wish to contact them. Since the miles cannot be substantiated by proper documentation it should also be considered to be 139xxx. The pristine undercarrigage, engine, cables, including no wear on even the brake or clutch pedal, leave me to belive that this car is 39xxx miles. Either way, if you’re a 280Z enthusiast, you know these engines can go 500k plus with normal maintenance so even 139k is nothing. I purchased the 280Z in November 2011 and had it shipped in an enclosed trailer down to Tampa to a Z specialty shop called ZDocs (www.zdocs.com). The 280Z spent 5 months at ZDocs who went through the car completely to properly get her running after sitting for 29 years. This included having many items replaced right down to hoses and mechanical items to ensure no items would fail when driving the car when completed. For instance, even though the alternator and water pump still worked, I went ahead and had them replaced with new ones along with many other items to ensure worry-free driving when completed. I didn’t want items to fail after a few months of use after sitting for so many years in non-operation. By the way, ZDocs is a Z specialty shop that has been in Tampa since 1974 by the original owner who I know personally and did much of the work himself in addition to his other two employees. They work on all years of Z generations and are a team of 3 (owner: Brent). This 280Z is 100% rust free. There is absolutely no rust, not even surface rust on the car or the undercarriage. Original owner had car undercoated when purchased from the dealership in 1976. The original paint was showing areas where the clear coat was coming off, so I had the car repainted using base coat / clear coat enamel with same color code, #301. Zdocs body shop removed the doors, hatch, glass, bumpers, pretty much everything for a complete sand down and respray. Basically it was done right along with new rubber for the glass when everything was put back together. Photos of the process will be provided to the new owner on a flash drive too. Only item not working is the clock. The dash and steering wheel are in MINT condition with absolutely no cracks or pitting. I insalled a 'wheelskin' brand - leather cover on the steering wheel to give the wheel a thicker feel but this can easily be removed if desired. Original owner had an aftermarket sunroof installed. It's in mint conditon and was professionally installed in it's day. It does not leak and the seals are in geat condtion too. Zdocs stated it's a good quality brand called Guardian and was installed very nice. Factory AC works and blows cold air. The drivers seat had a tear in it so I ordered new seat upholstery from Motor Sports and had both seats re-upholstered. The original carpet was tan/brown and since I had the seats out I ordered the black molded carpet which I felt gave a better contrast to the brown seats and door panels. The 280Z still has the original owners manual, warranty book, along with original jack and tools in the car. There is one small crack on the side of the center console by the passenger seat belt area but cannot be seen unless looking for it. The crack actually is flush and not over itself so there is no stress on it at all. Since I have had the car out of the shop, it drives like a brand new Z. It did just recently develop a small leak which is the front transmission seal. The leak is so small that it's not worth fixing yet. I would average maybe a drop or two per week. The 4-speed transmission shifts flawlessly and it feels like a brand new 280Z on the road. Every time I take it out I get comments at the stoplights and when I stop for fuel. You won’t see a lot of 280Z cars on the road and if you do you probably wont’ see one in pristine condition looking like it came off the showroom floor. Also have an original Nissan service manual and original color dealer borchure that will come with the car Here is a list of items replaced and repairs done: I have all receipts for the new owner too. · Fuel tank and radiator pulled, boiled in acid and re-sealed / new fuel pump / water pump / thermostat / brake lines (front & rear) / brake pads (front & rear) / brake cylinders (rear) / master cylinder / brake booster / clutch master cylinder / slave cylinder / hoses / throttle linkage / alternator / shifter busings & boots / exhaust & muffler / belts / fuel filter / voltage regulator / ngk plugs & wires / battery & cables / fuel injectors cleaned / air-flow meter adjusted / tires / horns replaced / window seals & plugs / polished valve cover & new gasket / oil pan resealed / fresh fluids throughout car - transmission, brake, oil, differental, coolant. If you are looking for an unmolested, hard to find 280Z here you go. These cars are few and far between and will surely appreciate in the years to come. I have it priced fairly and am selling for thousands less than what I put into it. This is a 36 year old car, so no warranty is expressed or implied. Please call me at (813) 966-6453 if you have any questions or would like to inspect the vehicle. Payment due within 7-days of auction ending. Will be happy to work with you on shipping and storage until you can arrange to pick up or have a transport. Car has always been kept in garage out of elements. Mike
