Vehicle Detail
DescriptionAt The Sell It Now Store, we sell a number of vintage cars and trucks. You are looking at a 1963 Studebaker Grand Tourismo Hawk Survivor. This car is a 77,636 original mile survivor found in a garage and is probably one of the most original classic cars we have had for sale in awhile. It has sat since the 70s and is screaming to be restored and back on the road. The cosmetic condition is good for the age but it is showing wear and tear from years and years of storage. The paint is a bit rough in spots from a spill on the trunk to the rust on the fenders. The good news it is is 99% there and original, and the frame is outstanding. The floor pans are also excellent (round holes are for factory plugs which have gone missing), and aside from a bit of rust by the passenger door in the rocker area, and the problem areas in the front fenders, it is very solid. There is a bit of filler in the rear deck lid as well (shown in photos). These are superficial and and aside from a repaint, it is pretty much as stock as you will find, down to the bias belted tires, hubcaps, interior and drivetrain. This came from a local older owner who has had this car since the 70s. Read on and scroll down for a large number of photos. Please review them carefully before placing a bid. If you cannot view all the photos or would like to see larger photos, please click here. Mechanically, this car needs brakes, possible lines, and while it turns over and fires, it runs extremely rough and only runs on a gas can as the tank and lines need to minimally be cleaned. We are unsure why it runs so rough and may be a valve issue or potentially they are stuck from storage. The tank has a locking gas cap and the keys to the vehicle are lost. It also needs a battery and has a brake pedal that goes to the floor. It will need a complete mechanical restoration and paint to win any shows. The good news is the interior aside from carpeting is nice with minimal issues, and it is a straight car with a great frame and nearly 100% complete. We also have not tested much of the electronics. The glass is also good with no cracks. Current prices in the United States range from $4,500 for basket cases to upwards of $25,000 for nicely restored examples. Consider the value of these down the road – better than the stock market. This would make a great addition for the Ford or Cobra enthusiast that has everything, Best of all, there is NO reserve. We will let the market determine the value. Just to be clear - this car should be considered a project and does not run well, in need of brakes, lines, and a complete mechanical overhaul. We also recommend and encourage inspections which are at the cost of the buyer. If you have questions about the car or shipping during the auction, we can be reached at 262-798-0600 and ask for Mike or Nichole. Best of luck in the auction.
