Vehicle Detail

1989 Toyota Pickup Truck SR5 Xtra-Cab 6-cyl. with low-mileage (165k miles). Single-owner. I bought it new Aug. 1989. It has always been garage-parked when home. Compared to vehicles of similar age, I would say the condition is good to excellent. It always passes emissions with high scores. Always driven in Arizona, 99% in desert climate. Never driven in northern states, nor anywhere salt is used on roads. (No rust!). I've done very little to it over the years. I always changed the oil every 2-3k miles (or, 3-6 months the past few years when I drove it significantly less than 3k miles during that time). I changed the coolant on a regular basis (distilled water + coolant). It has a 1-year-old battery. In the past 7 years I have replaced the fuel pressure dampener, coolant temperature sensor and the cold-start injector. (That was in response to 2 incidents of hard-start problems. I've had no problem since then.). Comes with: Factory moon roof. Factory power steering, brakes, windows, locks, mirrors. Almost new front factory floor mats. (Purchased new on eBay 6 years ago. They might have 3k miles on them.).Original factory repair/maintenance manuals (2 volume).Spare parts, including a custom-made exhaust pipe to replace the catalytic converter.2-year-old radiator I'm not one of those people who overstates everything and wastes your time seeing things that aren't described. So, I'll try to be as picky as I can, detailing things that stand out to me as imperfections: Rear bumper has a dent (directly below the "S" in SR5). It also has an antenna hole drilled in it on the driver's side.Dash has one crack in it.Seat covers are deteriorating. (I don't remember the condition of the seat fabric. I don't believe it had any tears when I put the seat covers on. But, it was starting to wear thin.).Front CV boots are split. Only a problem if you want to do 4-wheel drive for more than a short distance.A/C doesn't work. Mechanic told me it needs new compressor and "dryer" (whatever that means).Clutch chatters sometimes. Probably needs to be replaced soon. Front end bushings are very worn. They need to be replaced. Driver-side mirror is slightly loose (inside housing). The power adjustment works. It's just that the mirror is a little shaky (like 1/8" movement). Something inside is loose. Left speaker sometimes turns off. A bump turns it back on. A loose connection somewhere. Power antenna doesn't extend/retract. I have the OEM replacement retractor mechanism. Finally, regarding the mileage: I know the mileage sounds suspicious. I mostly drove this to work. I drove 8-10k per year in the first 10-12 years. But, 10 years ago I began telecommuting a lot. When I drove to work it was only 3-10 miles each way. I might have driven 2k annually. 3 years ago I stopped working. I literally only drive it 4-5 times per month, which might be 250 miles annually. The odometer reads 151k. However, the speedometer cable broke in 1996. I drove it that way for for 18 months (around 1996). Based on my usage at that time, I always add about 14k to what the odometer says. Which is why I listed it at 165k. This is an excellent nostalgia/collector vehicle. Great shape for its age. A good starting point to restore. More/larger photos available here.
