Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 0 1 656 3742 31 7 4595 11.1539 0 0 0 In the interest of full disclosure: I listed this vehicle two days ago and then realized another auction for a very similar vehicle was already underway. In addition, there was additional information I wanted to add in the description after receiving multiple questions about the vehicle, but because bids were already placed, Ebay would not allow me to revise information in the description so I ended the listing early. I have made the description corrections and additions, and apologize for any previous inconvenience to those early bidders. This auction will run its course to the end. Thank you for looking & good luck! Up for auction is my 1955 MG TF 1500 replica. This is arguably the most accurate T-series replica ever made and is believed to be one of the only 7 – 8 factory turnkey cars designed and built in the very early ‘80’s by Victor Antique Auto of Rochester New York. Originally called the "TF 1800", this car was built sometime between 1980 - '83 but its year is not known for sure as some factory records regarding production dates did not survive. It is an MGB-based recreation using the driveline and many other parts from the ‘B’ as well as parts sourced from the TF. In fact, 85% of the car is made of MG parts and the body panels not originally from Abingdon were created using original MG parts as molds or samples. The 1800 cc 5-main bearing engine, 3.9 tube-type rear axle, and all suspension components are from a '71 MGB, the blue-label LH 4-speed OD gearbox and 7-blade radiator fan are from a '77–'80 MGB, and the steering rack & wheel, and the non-pollution head with the larger valves are from a '67 MGB. The fenders, body tub & doors are made of ash-framed fiberglass with the molds being taken from the actual TF parts and all are interchangeable with factory TF's. The frame is custom-made, modeled after the original TF frame but built using stronger square tubing and utilizing the front MGB cross member that is welded in place making for a stronger, stiffer frame & better handling characteristics. There is no "scuttle shake" as found in the original TF. The welded steel fuel tank is slung beneath the body in a safer location between the frame rails and the pseudo “tank” behind the spare is now closed, lockable storage accessed from behind the seats where you can store your jack, tools, valuables, etc. on your road trips and errands. The side & top louvered bonnets, front splash apron, top frame and dashboard are steel TF originals, and all the chrome bits are original TF parts including the grill, bumpers, door latches, tail lights, and windscreen that properly folds down flat. The spare tire carrier is also a TF original. The car is 300 lbs lighter than the factory TF, and the BMC 1800 B-series engine has almost twice the horsepower of the original TF. The car also sports the ‘B’ front disc brakes, larger rear drums, brake / clutch hydraulics, and 15 inch 60-spoke Dunlop wire wheels. It has been completely rewired with the MGB kit from Advance Autowire so it is quadruple fused and relayed with many of the faulty bullet connectors taken out of the loop. It is 12-volt negative ground and is running with a GM 7127 64 amp alternator putting out double the power of the Lucas original. What has been addressed over the past 3 years: New tires & tubes New brakes New splined hubs New front & rear springs (rears have the Moss lowering kit) Rebuilt front end New Armstrong lever shocks (30% stiffer) New Advance Autowire wiring harness & powerblock New exhaust from the high-flow manifold on back Engine has been honed & re-ringed and is currently bored .40 over – compression is 140 – 150 across the cylinders Refreshed gearbox and rebuilt overdrive by Quantum Mechanics in CT New driveshaft u-joints New clutch Rebuilt brake & clutch hydraulics & hoses New custom-made radiator with new hoses & fan belts 13 row oil cooler Rebuilt dual SU carbs with short velocity stacks & racing mesh filters Rebuilt SU fuel pump Petronix distributor (rebuilt points distributor comes with sale) Extra Moto-Lita Steering wheel comes with sale (MGB wheel currently on the car) Full matching top and side curtains along with spare tire cover & half tonneau Engine is equipped with an Ampco valve train vacuum oil lubricator Rebuilt / calibrated speedo & tach The car has some great period accessories like twin wing mirrors, plexi-glass wind wings, tinted sun visors, Lucas tripod headlights with stone guards, Amco-style stainless steel folding luggage rack (250 lbs capacity), Lucas clear driving & amber fluted fog lights and reverse light, and an embossed leather bonnet strap made by the same English leather shop that makes the leather goods for the Morgan sports cars in the UK. It also sports very rare alloy rear wing stone guards by Monaro that were only fabricated in Australia and were a popular accessory in the 50's The car also has 3-point seat belts. The sale includes a small box of extras like a spare driving light lens, extra distributor bodies, water pump belt, new clutch slave cylinder, interior material, etc. and a complete carpet set. There are some carpet pieces that need to be replaced and I never got around to it. Oil pressure cold is 75 lbs, 60 lbs hot, it doesn't smoke, and everything, including the pneumatic turn signal switch work as they should. The car was taken on a 3000-mile cross-country trip two summers ago without any incident and is my daily driver in the summers. It starts immediately summer or winter when the choke is pulled, runs cool even climbing mountains, gets about 25+ mpg, and has been a fun and quick driver for the 4 years I have had it on the road. I head up a “registry” for these cars and know a lot of info regarding the cars and their history so feel free to ask questions. Additional pictures can be sent on request. The car is actually titled as a 1955 MG TF 1500 so registration / tagging and inspections are easy with no emissions needed due to its "age". It annually passes stringent UT safety inspections with flying colors. $1000 deposit due at auction close. Thanks for looking and good luck!
