Vehicle Detail
THIS CAR IS BEING RE-LISTED AFTER THE LAST AUCTION FAILED TO MEET THE RESERVE PRICE. I'VE LOWERED THE RESERVE PRICE. Up for auction is my 1927 Ford T roadster, with a theme leaning towards old school Track T. It took over three years to build, with most of the work done by myself, with help from some seriously talented friends. BODY: The body is a limited-production fiberglass model which had been extended 4" in the cockpit to create more legroom and the cowl reworked to fit the DuVall windshield and Duece dash. Unlike most T-bucket kits, both doors and trunk are fully operational. Body has been channeled 3" to hide the chassis. Grille shell is from a 1946 FarmAll tractor which has been extensively reworked and fitted with a 1950 Ford hood ornament. Headlights are Guide 682c-type. Tailights are 1950 Pontiac bluedots. Paint is Porsche Seal Grey Metallic with clear coat, pinstriping is by Jive, a local legend. Upholstery was professionally done in lipstick red to match the wheels and block. "Bomber"-style seats are cut-down aluminum buckets from a drag car. ENGINE: The engine is a 1946 Ford 59A flathead. I got it as a bare block in awesome condition with original bore measurements and then spent several weeks smoothing the block before painting it Porsche Guards Red.. We punched it out .125 and installed Egge 3-ring pistons. Crank and rods are stock. Crank was ground .010 under and mains were aligned-bored. Cam is an Isky 3/4 race, intake is Thickstun PM7 (real deal - not a repop!), dual Holley 94 carbs with OTB cleaners, headers are a Speedway kit which have been extensively modified. Nothing sounds like a well-tuned Flattie and these megaphones REALLY let you enjoy the song. Transmission is T-5 5-speed from a mid-90's S-10 with Cornhuskers adapter. Full-flow oil filter system, high-torque starter, single-wire 12V GM alternator, Mallory crab-style distributor, Griffin aluminum radiator, Painless Wiring and Odyssey dry cell battery make this car stone cold reliable. CHASSIS: Frame is 2x3 rectangular steel. Front axle is SuperBell with 4" drop and lightening holes, with split wishbones. Front brakes are rebuilt 1940 Ford drums (which do NOT instill confidence in panic situation). Genuine 1935 Ford wire wheels were sandblasted and powdercoated to match engine block. (There is a spare wheel/tire included.) Cowl steering is through a Schroeder steering box from a midget dirt car, and is REALLY quick.... 1.5 turns lock-to-lock. Rear end is from a mid 90's S-10 with drum brakes, suspended by hairpins and no-name coil-overs. Both master cylinders for clutch and brake are located under floor, but are filled remotely from reservoir in trunk. The car runs and drives great. There are no mechanical issues with the car...it needs nothing. It fires first time, even after sitting for months. The car very dependable...you can drive any where and trust it to bring you back home... but be warned that this is not a long haul cruiser. There's NO TOP. So for you out-of-state buyers, plan on bringing a trailer. And for those that have to ask their wives for permission, take my advice: Don't tell them you want this car, tell them you NEED it. (Trust me on this.) Here is a link to a short video of the flattie running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-tYSIqMibU&feature=youtu.be Car is titled and registered as a 1927 Ford Model T roadster and has a clear Illinois certificate of title. Please look at the photos very carefully. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to shoot me an e-mail.
