This is a semi-restored 1983 FJ40 imported from Saudi Arabia in 2011. It is non-US spec, and equipped with full floater rear axles. It is in very good condition, runs very well. It is quiet, smooth and cool running. The body has had minor rust repairs made and has been spot repainted. It is used as a daily driver. It is fully registered, tagged and insured for the USA. The 2F engine has been worked over and many components have been replaced. When purchased in Dammam, Saudi Arabia the odometer reading was 147,490 kilometers but the speedometer was not functioning. After completing a major overhaul the odometer reading is currently less than 1300 kilometers. After removing the head and planing/shaving, the valves were ground and the head gasket was replaced. UNDER THE HOOD RESTORATION/REPLACEMENT: The following parts were replaced under the hood with new OEM parts from the Toyota parts distributor Abu Mazin in Al Khobar (all receipts available): Manifold and gasket, carburetor, header and complete exhaust system, battery, coil and condenser, all belts, hoses and filters, fuel pump, oil cooler, radiator, thermostat and upper and lower housing for same, distributor, cords and spark plugs, starter, voltage regulator, horns, coolant and wiper fluid bottles, washer motor, hoses and nozzles, alternator and water pump. ADDITIONAL MECHANICAL WORK: Complete rebuild of transmission and transfer assemblies, new clutch, clutch bearing, and pressure plate, new engine seal, new master brake cylinder, new clutch master cylinder, new clutch slave cylinder, brake booster rebuilt. New brake cylinders front and rear (drum brakes all round), new brake shoes and liners. New hand brake cable. New spider kits have been installed on the propeller shaft and universal joints. The balls joints have been rebuilt, new axle seals, new wheel bearings installed throughout and new Aisin free-wheeling hubs installed. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: The electrical system has been completely reworked and new wiring installed. New relays, speedometer (kilometers), gauges for fuel, water, oil pressure and ammeter have been installed. New turn signal switch, headlight switch, brake and hand brake switch, new clock, windshield wipers. New fog lights, headlights, cigar lighter new and operative, new front turn signal lights, new emergency light in glove box and working receptacle, new radio antenna INTERIOR: The interior is in good condition, there are no tears or burns on the seats. Recoiling seat-belts are installed. Interior lights are new and working. Non-US bench seat on passenger side. New brake, clutch and gas pedal pads, door seals, weather strips and window seals are either new or in good condition,. Door locks are operative, new window winders, gear shift knobs, gear shift instruction plate. TIRES: Five new tires mounted on split rim wheels. Dunlop SP Road Gripper LT 235/85 R16. Many other new items, emblems, decals, stainless steel allen head bolts, washers used for most trim. This vehicle is really well looked after and is loaded for years of enjoyable driving as is. It has been the owner's tradition to keep it as close to original as possible.
