Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a mostly restored 1978 MGB that is in very good mechanical condition. The actual mileage is unknown. The odometer reads 30,117. The "good": Its 4 cyl stock engine starts and runs extremely well. It has good power with the Weber 45 DCOE dual carburetor and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts like new. The cabin is unusually quiet because I lined the entire cockpit with sound and heat damping material. The engine burns no oil and does not overheat. The car has 4 new tires, 4 new shocks and new tie-rods and steering boots. I have replaced a host of parts ( thousands of dollars worth) including new gas tank, new rubber gas lines, new fuel pump, new plugs and rotor. The radiator has been flushed and a new water pump, thermostat, housing, and all new cooling/ heater hoses, and new heater switch and cable have been installed. The braking system has new front rotors, pads, and hoses. The rear brakes have a Scarebird disk brake mod installed with all new parts. The brake master cylinder is new. The clutch master and slave cylinders are new as is the hose. There is a new battery. The former rusted areas have been replaced with new quarter panels from Moss Motors. It has a new fiberglass bonnet (hood). The interior carpet has been replaced and the original seats are reupholstered. It has new MGB logo rubber mats, new door panels, new seat belts, and new door seals. It also has a new wiper motor and wiper blades. The top is in serviceable condition (no holes) but the window panels are yellowed. It is currently inspected and registered in Texas. The "not so good": The paint job is a "12 footer". You know, it passes at 12 feet but any closer and you see how much it needs to be re-sanded and painted. The dashboard is cracked and is missing covering in a couple of areas. One of those areas was repaired badly at one point. The spare tire is missing but the rim and jack are there. The windshield has light wiper scratches on it but it passed Texas's inspection. The original emission system is missing. The hazard light switch needs to be replaced. The backup lights do not light. The EXTRA engine cooling fans sometimes make noise from the fan motor bearings. The engine also has a very minor oil drip (about a teaspoon each time it is parked). But you know the old saying, "if it doesn't leak, it's not British." Seriously, this is a very good running car, very zippy and fun to drive. I've put hundreds and hundreds of hours of work on this motor car to make it as safe and reliable as possible. I have tried to be honest and complete in my descriptions. I may have inadvertently missed some things but if I did they were unintentional. As a bonus to the wining bidder, I'll include a car cover with the auto. You will have to either pick it up or make arrangements to ship it yourself. I will be available of course to see it on the truck. When you are getting an estimate for shipping, the car is located in the 79705 postal zip code. At auction close, the winner will have to PayPal a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of auction ending. Failure will forfeit the win.Serious bidders only, please.
