Vehicle Detail
1962 Ford Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe V8 Engine (unknown displacement, I have not looked it up, I am assuming it is a 260ci 289ci or a 292ci small block V8, I really don't know) Automatic Transmission 2 Door Bucket Seats rear Bench Original Center Console 99% Complete and original Tires have 50-70% tread and in good repair without checking/cracks Odometer Shows 5277 Miles but this could have rolled over and actual mileage is unknown. I purchased this car and added it to my collection with thoughts of a full restoration, but I bought it without the approval of my wife and since I already have a couple project cars, wife says this one must go. It runs and drives well, the brakes are very firm and stop well the steering has little play in it, but very responsive. The engine has lots of power, (way more than I expected from this ol girl, she easily breaks the tires loose and gets up and goes!) The transmission shifts well, with no sign of slippage or unusual noises. Mechanically a very solid car. The paint job is recent and "okay", but for this to be a show car would need to be redone. The paint shows well from 20 feet away, but when you get close you can pick up on some sags and areas where the body was not properly prepped before paint the last time it done. This car is very solid with very minimal rust issues, under the carpet there is some surface rust but the floor boards are VERY solid and no holes, the trunk also had some surface rust and was treated to a rubberized coating to seal it. While it should be redone, it is protected from further deterioration. Basically, I would say it is a nice solid car showing obvious age and wear with a lot of potential to be someone pride and joy. It is about 99% complete and only missing the molding on the front passenger fender, some emblems and misc small trim pieces. It has a lot to go on and has the potential to be a full restore, a resto mod or a rat rod depending on your tastes. It has newer carpet, mats, and front and rear seat covers (seats in good condition with only one tear on the drivers seat but they show substantial fading.) Has all original gauges, dials, switches, steering wheel has cracks and center emblem is loose. Electronics work including turn signals, headlights, brake lights. Headliner in torn in the rear. The engine has excellent compression, with a range of 141-155 across all cylinders. It has a small oil leak from the back of the valve cover from what I can tell. The engine does not smoke or make unusual noises, it does tend to be cold starter as typical for these older cars and warms up quickly to operating temperature and idles smoothly. The chrome wheels, bumpers and trim range in condition from usable to needing to be re plated, polished and some would probably be easier to replace but that is up to the tastes of the winning bidder. Overall, a solid classic car with a lot of potential and in need of work to make it someones pride and joy. I am a private seller, there are no additional documentation or registration fees. Clear Oregon Title in hand along with bill of sale will be provided upon payment. $500.00 non refundable deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of auction close, balance to be paid within 7 days via Cash or Certified funds. I will help with shipping the car, but it is your responsibility to find a shipping company and arrange payment for their services and make all applicable arrangements for this. This car is sold as is where is. Please ask any question before bidding as your bid is a binding contract. I have provided many photos for you to examine it, and you are welcome and advised to inspect it in person prior to submitting bids. While it does run and drive I would caution a buyer against trying to drive it a long distance as it is a 50 year old car that is un-restored and recommend a trailer or shipping agent.
