Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1970 VW Karmann Ghia coupe that is a very original rust free driver with only 80,000 original miles. This car has lived in sunny Florida all its life and has rust free floors and under pan. It has its original 1585cc flat four engine and factory 4 speed gearbox. The interior of this car is like a time warp with original steering wheel, gauges, radio, seats, door panels, floor mats, sun visors and headliner. The car also has a neat bamboo shelf under the dash as a cool period touch. All chrome and glass is in really nice condition. The car has been repainted its original very rare Green with White/interior. The chassis number is 1402481400 was built in January 1970. It runs and drives excellent. It pulls very strong in all four gears with no issues. The clutch is nice and easy and the gearbox is quiet. All its electrical components work properly. The engine starts with one turn of the key, runs strong, smooth and idles steady at 800 rpm. The compression and oil pressure are excellent. No smoke on startup or significant oil leaks. The carb was rebuilt and also a new gas tank and fuel pump installed with all new gas lines. Fresh tune-up recently performed by a VW expert who did a full inspection for me. The brakes are very good and the car stops quickly and straight. It is truly a pleasure to drive at speed and is a reliable driver for long trips. The paint on the car is nice but not perfect for an older paint job and has some scratches and some imperfections here and there. There are a couple of rust bubbles along the lower lip of the engine lid but nothing serious. The door gaps and fender gaps are excellent with all original floor pans and body panels. The undercarriage is straight, solid and never rusted. This car has never been in an accident and has no damage or bondo that I am aware of. These cars are getting harder to find in this original condition such as this car and will appreciate in value as time goes on. Currently insured by Hagerty for $15K appraised value. I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time since the car will also be advertised in other media. I will sell to Europe or whoever appreciates its quality. The car is sold “as is” with no expressed or implied warranty or guarantee. I have a buy it now price of $12,500.00 and a reasonable reserve. Thanks for your interest. You may call me or email me to discuss any questions or for more detailed photos. Thanks Dave Cell; 631-339-3349. Please bid only if you are serious about buying this car. Thanks for your interest.
