1974 REFURBISHED OLDSMOBILE OMEGA -X BODY PLATFORM ONE OF A KIND! LOW PRICE, NO RESERVE, RARER THAN RARE, ONE OF A KIND AND BUY IT NOW! Reason for selling is that another one of our cars is in the garage and Mama's is in the driveway and she wants her garage space back so this beautiful classic will have to find a new home. Don't believe if you dial in 1974 Oldsmobile Omega you'll find another listed on eBay! Not listed locally, but reserve the right to do so, reduced price to appease mama, my loss your gain! GENERAL: Clean, non-salvage, clear title in hand. California smog exempt. NO RESERVE, priced way under market and restoration cost (continue to read and you will see) First creditable buyer gets it! Purchased from a Southern CA. Car Dealer. Came with an Arizona title which I converted to a California Title and then licensed. All fees paid! It never ceases to amaze me the heads this car turns! As near as I can tell, this car originated in Texas, then moved to Arizona than to Southern California. Former owner was a Car Dealer in Southern California who I believe operated the car under his dealership plates. When I purchased the unit, I had to do the grunt work and prove title to the State of Californias satisfaction. The auto was inspected, VIN numbers verified and a valid California Title was issued and then licensed through January 2013. Former Owner Restored: Walking the unit: Paint is OK for a driver but could use buffing or touch up on the front fenders and grille mount (might of gotten its nose hit in the past but not mentioned by former owner) 245/35 cr20 Iroc Rally rims. Tires are in great shape with the exception of the passenger side front tire where there is rubbing on the outside edge. (rubbing problem has been solved but tire should be replaced) Front tires are 245/35 ZR 20 95w. Back tires are 275/40ZR 20 106W XL. TH-350 transmission, 8.5 inch 10 bolt rear end. No broken glass whatsoever with the exception of a couple of wee gravel pits that can be resin repaired. No known rust issues. Former owner stated that he gutted the interior and completly refurbished to include rugs, dash top, seat covers, side panels and headliner. Chrome B&M shifter on the floor. GT steering wheel. Seats were replaced with racing, color matched buckets. Original dash and gauge, limosine tint windows around with the exception of the drivers side. Working Pioneer AM/FM WMA/MP3. Wired for speakers in the trunk. Everything works! All lights, turn signals, windows with the exception of the heater fan. Heating currently bypassed but fan still in place. (Don't ask me why, perhaps too hot in Texas, Arizona or Southern CA,) Battery kill switch. New weatherstripping all around. For a forty year old car, chrome is in reasonable shape however missing a Omega badge on the passenger side front fender. Engine compartment: Mileage unknown on present engine but reads 68,750 on the odometer. Former owner stated that the car had a big block 350 but upon independent motor number inspection, it was determined that the original VIN 350 had been replaced by an Oldsmobile 403 c.i.d. plus a racing cam. Edelbrock Performer, 1406 600 cfm, 4-Barrel carburetor; Edelbrock valve covers, Flow-master exhaust system with tips out the back Duralast heavy duty battery, good hoses, no signs of any leaks! This is one powerful stallion! I had the Transmission repaired 2-1-1012 to include a new Pan Gasket, Modulator and Transmission Mount. Trivial stuff: Has a very small easy to patch slit on the driver side seat cover where the tilt forward lever protrudes (you can notice in picture), That and a crack in the right rear tail light are the only trivial problems to my knowledge other than other issues already divulged. As beautiful as this car is along with the many component upgrades, this was not a frame off restoration project. It is a very powerful lean-mean driver so if your expecting a $50,000.00 show car for $4,750.00 you might want to continue looking or just buy it now, have fun and save the cost of buying a trailer. This stallion has the proudest stance in the pasture. I don't have the slightest idea how many of these units were manufactured under the Omega badge, but probably very few. Only minor styling changes were made on the 1974 Omega to distinguish it from the Cutlass model. Most notable were new grilles up front, including a unique fascia with bumper mounted turn signals on the base model not shared with any of the other trim levels, and federally mandated 5 mph (8.0 km/h) rear bumpers (joining the 5 mph (8.0 km/h) front bumpers mandated in '73) along with flush taillight lenses. Both the 350 and 455 Rocket V8s were carried over unchanged from 1973 aside from revisions required to meet 1974 emission regulations. A new hydraulic bumper system was new. there were two generations of Omegas, both badge engineered on Chevrolet models, and both using the GM X platform architecture. The Omega was one of 3 X-body GMC clones introduced in 1973. (eBay gets upset if I mention the other specific brand names associated with Chevrolet and Pontiac) It shared the Chevy body and many of its mechanicals, but it had its own unique nose and tail, and, being an Oldsmobile, it had a little fancier trim than the Chevy. It borrowed the Chevy's dashboard, but Olds added woodgrain trim to it for a more upscale look. The front grille sported Oldsmobile's trademark split "waterfall" grille design, round headlights set into square recesses, and parking lights directly below in the bumper. The 403 engine was made from 1977 to 1979 and used across the Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Cadillac Vehicle lines. It was also used in other applications like motor homes, boats and some industrial applications.
