Vehicle Detail
We are pleased to off this very special one-off custom creation that was donated in 2008 to the National Auto and Truck Museum. This vehicle is being offered at "NO RESERVE" to facilitate our cash flow. It was gifted on behalf of a retired savings and loan executive who loved to restore and build custom cars. This was his final creation prior to his passing. It was an award winner, ISCA participant, Ameri-Cruise and Power Tour entrant. See 80+ pictures of this car on our Facebook site. www.facebook.com/pages/National-Automotive-and-Truck-Museum-of-the-United-States/179784601267 Built on a 1946 Ford Fordor platform, the most obvious custom features are the body modifications that include the front Mercedes headlamps and alteration of the grille and hood to form a mouth in keeping with a “Tasmanian Devil” theme. Other exterior modifications include a Mustang Shaker hood scoop, shaved door and trunk handles, custom smoothed tail lamps, custom exhaust ports and nerf rear bumpers. The paint color is a very deep dark cherry with sliver-fade flames. The paint does have a few scuffs from use but overall in very presentable condition needing a few touch-ups. There are no known dents or dings. The interior has been re-upholstered using a maroon velour–type material and is soft and comfortable. The seat frames appear to be stock Ford items. A banjo steering wheel is mounted on the modern tilt steering column and full digital gauges have been placed into the custom-built instrument cluster. Grey cloth has been used as headliner and sunvisor material that reflects the exterior flame job color. Also, Vintage Air climate control has been added for maximum comfort and seat belts for safety. Highlighting this showpiece is the amazing engine set-up. It is a Flathead Ford mated to a Ford C-4 transmission. Hundreds, if not thousands, of hours were spent on the creation of this drive train. Although this custom creation was on display for several years on the main floor of the NATMUS museum, it has most recently spent time in storage and is due for a thorough cleaning inside and out. Today, it starts, runs very smoothly and drives well, but has not been on the highway for several years. It has an amazing drive train and has logged many, many miles on U.S. interstates. It is a proven road warrior that needs to be driven and enjoyed once again.
