Selling this original, 1971 Datsun 240Z. Her production date is 1/71. She carries many of the traits from 1970. Vented rear hatch, 240Z emblems on the upper quarters, latching gas cap and rear window defroster lines that travel up and down instead of side to side. Her original paint code is 904. It appears that she was repainted once in her life. The black interior is original. She sports steel wheels with "Z" hubcaps. Many 240Z's back in the day had dish mags installed at the dealerships so that dealers could make more profit. Not the case here with our girl. She is reported to be a two owner car. She even still sports the working Hitachi AM radio in the dash with a workinig power antennae. How's that for period correctness??? The black door panels have not been cut for speakers. The headliner and sunvisors are in good shape. The wood steering wheel is still attached along with the wood gear shift knob. The rear straps for the cargo shelf is still there. These early 1971 series ones had jack tool compartments behind the seats. This one still has them there!!! The quilted vinyl still looks good. The rear carpet although faded is still in good shape. Original side view mirror too. The spare tire area is not rusted through. There is some surface rust, here and there(see photos and video). The dash has two cracks on it. The lights all function and the gauges all work with exception of the clock. The fuel gauge is tempermental. May be loose wire. The seat back are in good shape. The driver side bottom cushion will need to be recovered. Motorsport has an excellent seat kit that is period correct. The vin numbers all match. The vin is even stamped on the firewall above the windshield washer motor. This is correct and original as can be. The chrome is decent for its age. The nose(hood) has some prior repair(see video and photo). That is a common occurence when you have a car that sits low. Other than that, the rails are clean, the rockers are clean and the doglegs too. This ol' girl has been a California car her entire life. She still even sports the blue California plate from the 1970's, front and back. If you are looking for an early 240Z that you can drive and restore along the way, look no further. They are hard to fine, especially one that has not been altered. She still have the twin Su's, the air cleaner, the steel fan and a working courtesy light in the engine bay. The head is an E88 for those who want to know. She was just freshly tuned and has a new battery and new tires all the way around. She gets attention everywhere. Please be advised that although she looks presentable, she is 41 years young. If you want a great platform for years to come, then this is your girl. If you are looking for a garge queen, spend 25k and get one that Nissan/Datsun restored back in the days. You are getting nostalgia at NO RESERVE!!! Final bid takes our young girl home.
