Vehicle Detail

Track ready 1972 Porsche 914 with 3.2 power plant. Car has 916 body kit which includes glass flairs, bumpers, and rockers. Painted Porsche Grand Prix white with matte black trim. Louvered engine lid with third brake light. Replaced longitudinals, battery console/hell hole and all body seals during rebuild winter of 1999-2000. Completely rebuilt and installed 1986 3.2 engine with 46 mm PMOs. Engine has mild reground cams, headers, super trap mufflers and is kept comfy with a remote front/center mounted oil cooler and a 914-6 oil tank in left rear fender. Rebuilt 1986 915 tranny and converted to a 916 at the same time, operated by a side shift linkage and a Fabcar shifter. Limited slip diff and 1986 911 half shafts. Heavy duty 914-6 clutch. 914-6 body stiffening kit and boxed trailing arms. 1986 911 struts, rotors and calipers plus adjustable brake bias and 19 mm master cylinder. I gave up the parking brake when I installed the upgraded rotors and calipers. Battery and fuel pump relocated to front bonnet and all lines are braided steel. 22 mm Weltmeister front sway bar, I do not run a rear bar. Tow hooks front and rear. Coil overs with 400 # springs in front and 325 # in rear. Cage, 14 gallon custom fuel cell, fire system, Momo steering wheel and seats. 5 point harness. Getti dash for the five 911 gauges. Corner balanced for a 200 # driver. Set of 7 and 8 x 16 Fuchs and 7 and 8 x 16 Ewings. The Ewings have Hoosiers used 1 DE. I have averaged 2 DEs per year from the summer of 2000 through 2010. The odometer came from the 1986 911 and was not reset. I estimate about 4,000 miles on the car since the rebuild. There are some spider webs on the fiber glass but none that need attention or are noticeable until one is right on top the car. There is a start of a seam separation crack, about an inch long, below one of the headlamps. Other than that the car is a real head turner and won't hold anyone up on the track.
