Vehicle Detail
1974 Triumph TR-6 - (also listed locally - seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time due to local sale) Sapphire Blue (original color)6 cylinder (inline) Dual Stromberg carburetors 4 speed manual transmission (no overdrive) 80,404 miles P205/75 R15 Dunlop tires on steel wheels Purchased 2/20/2010 from the previous owner in Richmond, VA. Based on all the documentation I have, I am the 6th owner and have been able to piece together the past of this solid car.It has been garage kept while in my care and has only seen water from an occasional washing. I performed regular maintenance and have made several improvements as noted below. I have only put 240 additional miles on it from sunny afternoon drives in Kentucky. Two months after I purchased this car I bought another 1974 TR6 so I’m selling this one to share the British car experience. Previous owner had the carbs rebuilt and replaced the top with a white one (looks sharp against the original Sapphire Blue color). The TR has been repainted and both the body and paint are in good condition but the paint is not show car quality. Buffs up nice as you can see in the pictures but has some areas with orange peel. One of the previous owners also had the engine completely rebuilt in 1984 (I have the receipts that show the work completed). This car runs great and has a strong engine and transmission (no overdrive). It has a dual Monza exhaust which gives it a great deep sound. Wheels and trim rings are in good shape and brakes are all in great shape. Tires are Dunlop radials and have decent tread. Clutch and transmission were rebuilt in 1988 and I replaced the clutch master/slave cylinders last year. The interior is in fantastic shape, though not showroom new. The dashboard was replaced in 1990 with new walnut and it appears that the same owner redid the entire interior – good seats, door panels, carpet, etc. – no rips or tears. The electric harness was replaced in 1997, along with the dashboard top, and transmission tunnel covers. Various other parts were replaced and I have documented the history from the receipts that have been kept with the car. It has the original British Leyland AM/FM radio that I had repaired and cleaned before I re-installed. The previous owner also installed a nice wood steering wheel. I installed new retractable seatbelts, a new alternator and a new wiper motor. All gauges, lights and switches work , except for the dash dimmer rheostat. The heater and blower work and all vents are operable. The white convertible top is in good condition with one small blemish on passenger’s side. No rips or tears and it is water tight. The back window zips in easily and all plastic is clear. A white tonneau cover is included (great shape) and a black boot cover for the top (some snaps missing). Front windshield has no scratches and no fogging. The boot is solid and contains a good spare on a TR steel wheel. The original jack and tire wrench is included. Trunk liner is good but not perfect and the light does not work. Chrome is all in good shape, including the luggage rack. Bumpers were replaced in 1990 Issues: This car is in exceptional condition but it not perfect so let me outline the things that I am aware of. The car has no visors, although I do have parts. White convertible top has a blemish and the black boot cover has some missing snaps. As with most TRs, there are a few minor oil leaks. Trunk liner is missing a few panels and the trunk light does not work. The car was originally sold with A/C but that was removed somewhere along the way. The seatbelt warning system is not connected. On May-23-12 at 21:11:01 PDT, seller added the following information:Received several questions on condition of frame, chassis and trailing arms - all are solid and basically rust free. Some surface rust on the frame. No rust in floors or trunk. Seat belts are retractable shoulder belts. On May-23-12 at 21:20:09 PDT, seller added the following information:Changed some pictures to add shots of rear frame and trailing arms right and left side as well as shot from inside trunk (orange in trunk is previous paint not rust). Hope that helps address questions that have been asked. Call me at 502-417-5321 (Randy) with any other last minute questions
