Vehicle Detail
Great Opportunity to own an original good condition rare 1939 Plymouth 2 door convertible with a rumble seat. Only 5,976 convertibles produced that year. I am selling this car for a family friend. He purchased the car in 1968 and for the next 8 years used it in parades and a random Sunday drive. The car was last registered and inspected in 1976 and parked in his garage where it sat for the next 36 years. When he purchased in in 1968, it had a repaint and a new top put on. The car was an excellent smooth running vehicle until the time he parked it, but is in need of a restoration. Current condition - We pulled it out of the garage a few years ago and tore the brakes apart. The brakes are free and the car rolls easily, but the brakes do not work. The brake cylinders are pitted and need rebuilt or replaced. He decided not to invest money in the car to get it running so we re-installed the brake cylinders as original. The engine turns over freely and I believe with some tune up and new fluids, would start and run again. There was a new fuel pump purchased for the car at some point while in storage so that was recently installed, but we have not attempted to start the car in any way. Our intent was to get the car running again for him, but he decided now to sell the car instead. The top is in very nice shape and opens / closes freely. The interior and back rumble seat are in good shape for its age. The exterior paint is solid and rust free, but is not a modern professional paint job. The dust was removed and my father waxed the entire car to clean up the appearance. The body is rust free and solid. There is a dent in the passenger rear fender and paint is gone showing some surface rust. Please review the pics. This car is not a show car, and not in perfect condition, but is an excellent preserved car that with a little work could be cruising again, or would be an excellent candidate for a complete restoration. Tires would need to be replaced as they sat flat for years and are dry rotted. As-is no warranty. This is not a running driving car. Car has not run since 1976. The car is available for review by appointment - Please email or call with any questions - 814 934-9154 Chris As stated, I am selling the car for a family friend.
