This 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible is in A-1 condition and was restored over a 5 year period. I am the second owner, purchased the car in Marin County, Ca. in Dec 1999. This is a numbers matching 318 automatic car. I restored it to an "R/T" clone. using the complete drivetrain and parts from another 1970 R/T challenger. the 383 is a HP block rebuilt with less than 1,000 miles on motor, small oil leak on oil pan, from storage. otherwise no exaust/intake leaks or any issues-runs beautiful. I installed stock valve covers, dual snorkel, thermal coated "HP" exaust manifolds, electronic ignition in distributor replaced points. I had the 727 hydramatic trans, completely rebuilt, 8 3/4" RR 323 gears, new axles, seals green bearings. exaust is "year-one" challenger correct 2 1/4" welded and clamped with correct trunk hangers. 3-chamber mufflers, new e-tips. no leaks. THE BODY: I removed the quarter panels just below the body line on both sides, removed all interior panels and replaced everything with new sheet metal (goodmark aftermarket panels used on bottom half, did not change curve in body panel) all pieces flush welded, strong welds, inside panels, some patch panels used in floor board, but flloor to sub-frame original welds/undercoating left, no rust, very good condition.entire trunk panel carefully removed (at weld points) and replaced with aftermarket 2-piece pan. the trunk pan was rivited to the sub-frame for maximun strength, looks perfect! welds and rivets putty, and entire sheet metal inside and exterior was epoxy sealed before paint.undercoated/sound deadener, satin black finished for stock look. all parts were restored and painted to stock finish, no cheap modidications. original spare tire, trunk harware, stickers correct throughout car, engine, door jams, etc. THE INTERIOR: the original dash core restored by "just dash" seats welded/restored where needed, all hand made upholstery, matches R/T pattern correctly. white leather inserts, with red vinyl covers, door panels pattern restored correct, original looks not aftermarket. everything is color-coded, rallye red. center console completely intack lid perfect, no cracks or glue used everything is screwed together as original, aftermarket woodgrain. rallye dash cluster 1970, 7-tach, with clock. lower dash parts perfect, rimblow steering wheel does not have hornwire hook-up, black/tan leather grip stiched over-very nice! aftermarket glass-in convertible white top. hand-made boot cover all red vinyl, white edge with chrome snaps-tight fit! original well-liner. all elec-top down original to car perfect working condition. new wire harness throught car except dash harness. new window kits all original conv-glass small chip on pass-side at top. window mech., cleaned of dirt/sand new grease. most chrome replated, some not. this conv. came with the rare "belt-moulding" completely surrounds interior-2-inch pieces.original '70 "go-wing" hand made mounts inside trunk. grill is original and perfect condition, as is satin black deck piece below trunk lid. disk-brakes and lines came from a 1972 challenger, no rust or leaks. rear drum brakes turned new drums, but mechanics inside not replaced. 15x7 chrome magnum wheels w/caps, high profile tires gives nice look and clearance. original '70 rallye hood perfect-no rust, same with front and rear valance. body strait, car has never been rearended or front end/side collisions. rides very quite, smooth, stock shocks, leafsprings. entire front-end parts new w/polyurethane. limited pix available-currently stored indoors and soft cover, for 3 yrs.Can see starting, idling, and driving on you-tube "1970 dodge challenger convertible-second owner." moparcat. I am currently in Fl, car in Petaluma,Ca. On May-14-12 at 11:22:55 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to make some corrections: the fender tag is incorrect for this car. The fender was replaced long before I bought it and the body shop neglected to change fender tags. I was unaware of this,The car is a true convertible with junction boxes, and I will guarantee it to be true upon final inspection and sale of the car.
