Vehicle Detail
This car was raced in the 60's and is originally a California car. It is a survivor having been in a garage in Florida since 1970.We purchased the car 2 years ago with the intentions of restoring it to it's former glory. Unfortunantly life has gotten in the way and it is reluctantly being offered for sale. The previous owner told me he purchased the car outside of Gainesville Florida, old race car, engine was blown and removed, owners left it there to be sold as is and went back west. He made it streetable by" removing all the racing stuff and putting a chevy in it." In early 1970 it was ready, he took the car out and was tearing up the streets and the cops chased him back to his house where he hid the car in the garage. Officers told him they didn't want to see it back on the street and he parked it... for 40 years! This is how he told it to me! The history of the car before the P.O is very vague. He didn't know much about it The car..... Car is a pretty much rust free 1941 coupe, Ford econoline front axle, Hurst motor mounts for a small block Chevy, It has a Turbo 400 with a Hurst Dual gate shifter, 57 chevy rear, alot of leaf springs! The only rust is in the trunkrear portion, I cut out about a 6 inch strip of the floor in the very back.Nothing structural, see the pictures . Leaky garage roof, it also rusted the lip on the trunk lid in the very back. That's it, the rest of the car is solid, the doors close like new. The original motor did not do too well, somewhere along the line the block froze and water leaked from the radiator into it and pretty much it was junk. The Edelbrock intake , Hurst motor mount(front mount) and original headers are included, The flex plate, converter, drive shaft, tranny , radiator, are all with the car.The motor was set back in the frame, firewall has been recessed, looks to be around a 10 percent setback typical of the era. The original dash is in the car with extra oil pressure and amp guages, tach is missing, and the early 60's Chevelle or maybe Olds buckets are in good shape and included. The rest of the car is pretty much complete and as found. The front end was a steel lift off which I hinged so it tilts foward. All glass is with the car. The headlight bezals and the tail lights are with the car, just removed for safe keeping. one tail light trim has been repaired and the buckets are custom. The chrome strip on the trunklid was removed long ago but all the other chrome is intact. No grills. 1970 laquer paint chop, heavy on the Patina! Chrome Reverse wheels which are usable but not real pretty.Front and rear bumpers are with the car. It has the correct stance and looks great. It has a single circuit master cylinder which is stuck and needs replacing at least for safety"s sake! It has a clear California title. The car has always been stored inside and currently is in Valdosta Ga. This is the real deal x race car. This is a nice car , with a little work it could be racing or on the road! Put in a motor, fix the brakes and you could be driving it. This is not a recreation, it's the real deal so check it out. We will not part it out, if it doesn't sell this time it goes back into storage. ! As always transportation of the car is the purchasers responsability and all cost to be incurred by the purchasers.
