Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this project car, 1965 Plymouth Valiant Signet Convertible. This will be an outstanding project car for someone who knows and understands the history of muscle cars. The Plymouth Valiant was the first compact car with a V8, In 1965, Plymouth manufactured about 2000 Valiant convertibles. I haven't been able to pinpoint the number of convertibles with the 273 V8 and four speed, but most books put the number at several hundred. The technical details of this car really add to the mystique of the Valiant V8. Since the Valiant wasn't a new platform, when they added the small V8 to the car they used the big V8s transmission and rear end. Pretty much bullet proof. And these were the lightest V8 Mopars ever made. If someone is just looking for a great street car, replace the 273 with one of the crate motor 360's and this little sweetheart will dance. I bought this car to restore as I have owned a 1964 Valiant convertible previously and really enjoyed the car. I didn't know that they could be had with the four speed. So naturally, I bought this one. As it turns out, I have taken on too many projects, so something has to give. This Valiant is in good condition other than the rust in the floor board shown in the photos. The bottom and sub-frame are in very good condition. The car comes with all kinds of extras and parts. As you can see in the photos, There are extra panels for all the rough ones. The extra floor pan is very clean. The tranny is in the car. The engine is numbers correct for the car. Most everything is there with the exception of the shifter handle. If you are really interested in this project, drop me a line and let me know what questions you have and what photos you would like to see. I am old and retired and can BS cars with you all day so don't hesitate to ask. I can probably part it out for less than what my reserve is, but just hate to part out one more great collector car. The fender tag indicates the following for this Valiant: This is a 1965 Plymouth Valiant Signet ConvertibleThe car was delivered with a 273ci V8 and four speed manual transmission. The car has a build date of August 27, 1964 (obviously a very early 1965 Valiant)The inventory number also is very low at 00014left remote o/s mirrorvariable wiper with washerwhite convertible topheater with defrosterpower topback-up lightsfront bucket seats and consolepremium front bucket seatswhite vinyl bucket seatsgold carpet.gold metallic paintThe car did not come with the Commando V8.
