Vehicle Detail
1966 Porsche 912 Coupe VIN # 457786 Red with Black Interior California Blue Plates 159,723 Original Miles on Body SO CAL DESERT HISTORY ALWAYS (A BOOK of Receipts documenting the mileage) VERY ORIGINAL UNMOLESTED 912 This is a very original Two Owner vehicle; second owner for 34 Years. The first owner was Gary Cloud of Los Angeles and Riverside CA. The second owner bought the car on 10-21-78 with 83902 miles on it. The second owner John Buys of Palm Desert has had the car in that area since that time. John died a year ago. Since his purchase the car has lived everyday of its life garaged and was always a fun weekend car for John. In 1992 he basically parked the car and then totally restored it in 2000. The body is nearly pristine and appears extremely straight and wears a high quality paint job. The paint has the factory type look to it and looks very period correct. The paint is smooth like they came from the factory, with no orange peel. There is zero overspray anywhere and was obviously stripped and blocked and prepped very well as the paint still looks like new. It is obvious that the car has been in a garage ever since the paint was applied. All body gaps are crisp and the same all the way around the car. There is a receipt from Stoddard for over $1100 in little parts, weather stripping, outer window trim, clips and all kinds of rubber and gaskets that would be replaced in a full body restoration. John was sick for a number of years and did not drive the car at all. Mechanically the car runs very well. It starts on the first turn of the key and idles and drives out beautifully. The engine was gone through about 12 years ago when the car was restored. At that time a valve job was done and some cylinder work. The car does not appear to use oil or smoke. It has plenty of power. The four-speed transmission shifts well and the clutch works as it should. The interior is an enigma to me. I cannot find any receipts for work on the interior except for the purchase of a carpet kit. Although the carpets look to be original to me the receipt does not verify. The seats just look too good to be original, but since the car was always garaged and never a daily driver it has not sat out in the sun at all. The front seats were probably done a long time ago when the replacement materials were very close to the factory look and are very high quality. The rear seats are definitely original and the grain and perforation look nearly identical to the front seat skins. The Headliner is one of the nicest I have seen and is original to the car. The only downside to the interior is the dash pad which looks like it was recovered at some point and the glue that was used bubbled up or something underneath. The steering wheel horn button looks old and could be replaced. This is an nice original unmolested 912 . 1966 Porsche 912 Coupe VIN # 457786, 159.723 Meilen, 2 Vorbesitzer, Kalifornisches Blue Plate Fahrzeug, originaler Zustand mit sehr guter Lackierung.
