Vehicle Detail
Right Hand Drive Westfalia Continental.I have for auction a Volkswagen Westfalia Continental Right Hand Drive camper bus. This bus is titled as a 1978. I have a clear Ohio title in my name. Engine:The bus has never had a fuel injected 2.0 engine like most US equipped VW buses. It originally came with a 1600cc type 1 (bug style) engine. It now has a 1914 dual Dellorto carbureted engine. I recently switched to a CB Performance upgrade kit for the Dellortos and now it has a slight stumble off of acceleration. It does perform better. I will include the original carb parts with the bus.The bus has a remote fan cooled oil cooler plumbed with aeroquip metal lines and fittings. It also has a remote oil filter. It has a Pertronix electronic ignition. The engine has hydraulic lifters so there is no need to be checking the valves every 3000 miles. Deep sump oil pan. Alternator. Optima battery.Original/correct engine tins for a bug engine in a late bay, front and rear. Correct bug into bay motor mounts. Obviously the heater tubes are not hooked up on the back of the engine. They are however hooked up underneath to nice heat exchangers with working levers/controls and they make very nice heat as they are. It is easy and cheap enough to hook up the rear heater tubes Tires/Suspension: The tires are Michelin Agilis 81 correct load rated tires with about 8000 miles on them. The wheels are Vanagon VW factory alloys and are direct bolt on wheels with no spacers or machining done to make them fit.It has all new Boge shocks and steering Damper new withing the last 8000 miles. It has non power disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. Body/Top:The body is in its original paint as applied by the VW factory. It has had some touch up on areas that had started to get surface rust but is mostly all original paint. The only sign of bodywork is on the right rear corner it appears to have had some repair as shown in the pics. There is no rot or welding repair done anywhere. The canvas top was replaced about 5 years ago with Sunbrella canvas and side opening window were added for ventilation. All glass is good. All gas lines and vent lines have been changed and there are no funny smells. One key works all the locks. Transmission:The bus originally came with a 3 rib bus Trans. When it had the 1600cc engine the 3 rib was probably fine. When the bus was upgraded to a 1914 it then needed the gearing of a 6 rib trans. It now has a 6 rib trans that shift very nicely. It has a Gene Berg Right hand drive shifter which is a rare option. Within the last 8000 miles it has had a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. Axles were also greased at the time and appear fine. Interior:I had a couple of the seats professionally recovered with VW factory material. I have extra material I will include with the sale. The interior is not perfect but is complete and original. The stove works fine. The refrigerator works fine on propane, but I have never tried it on AC because it is wired on 220 volts (apparently what they use in England). The sink and drains work fine. I added VW factory ambulance fans and a factory VW clock to the dash. The orginal childs cot is included and in good shape. It has a Kilometer speedometer and it is not known if mileage is actual. Mileage shown is 39067 kilometers. All gauges work correctly. All curtains are present and in good shape as well as the front window curtain and rear mosquito screen. Radio quit working last time I had the bus out and will need looked at. Extras:I have a VW factory orange side awning that attaches to the side gutter and has three poles that support it. It is very cute. The bus has left hand drive Hella H4 headlights on it now (great lights) I will also include the correct Hella H4 Right hand drive lights with the bus. This is a rare opportunity to buy a seldom seen bus. The bus is ready to go and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. The only reason I am selling this bus is because I have too many cars and need to make room for a couple incoming projects. This vehicle is sold as is where is with no warranty or guarantee whatsoever. Winning bidder to make all shipping arrangements and pay all fees involved. I am willing to ship this overseas as long as winning bidder makes all arrangements, pays all fees has completed payment in full and has given time to make sure all money has cleared my account. I prefer cash, wire transfer, or funds from my personal bank as payment. Bus will not leave here until all monies have cleared my account. I have bus listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. If you are the winning bidder on this auction it means you are obligated to complete the transaction and buy the car. It does not mean you have won the right to come inspect the car and negotiate once you see it. Pre inspections are welcome. On May-04-12 at 08:51:31 PDT, seller added the following information: If the winning bidder uses "BUY IT NOW" I will throw in a set of Weber carbs that will work on the bus as well.
