Vehicle Detail

Bought this car at an auction for a friend and that deal fell through. What I can tell you is that this cars runs well and it seems to be 98% there. Even has a spare trunk lid inside the truck. The car drives very nice and even will chirp the tires in second gear. Surprised me from a a 287 with a 2 barrel. Mechanically this car is very good and drives very nice. It hadn't been run in a long time when I got it but started right up after priming it. Put some fresh gas in it and some SeaFoam it just runs better and better. No smoking and the engine doesn't seem to leak any oil. It also has a brand new rebuilt carburetor and the original in the trunk. Has 65,000 miles indicated but I have no way of confirming that. The odometer works but I still can't be sure. Now there seems to be some electrical issues which might just be blown fuses, but it has a lot of new wiring in it and might just need to be hooked up. There interior is very nice and I can't tell if it's redone or original. As you can see it needs some paint and body work. There is some surface rest here and there but no holes. The car supposedly came from southern California so that makes sense that the body isn't rusted very bad. There are some dings and stuff and there is some bondo on the drivers side rear quarter but as far as body goes it isn't bad. This car is totally restorable and seems to have all the trim and most of the interior parts including the rear door panels. This car is for sale locally and auction can be canceled without notice. A little history: The Marlin was created to compete with Ford's Mustang and Plymouth's Barracuda, but was built on the 112 inch wheelbase Rambler Classic chassis placing it in the midsize class. It was the first fastback in the segment and was offered with a variety of engines from a 232 cubic-inch 6-cylinder producing 155 horsepower to a 327 cubic-inch V8 producing 270 horsepower. Prices for the car started at $3,100 and although over 10,000 cars were sold in 1965, sales dropped to 4,457 in 1966.
