This 1969 VW camper had a rebuilt engine installed, along w/several additional parts, then PLACED IN STORAGE by the "original owner"!! This took place on 10-10-2007. I found this great little gem this past March, 2012! Since rebuild, this vehicle has 359 new miles. There are new tires all the way around. They still have the nibs on 'em. Body, doors, sheet metal are all very functional. ehicle has an onboard functioning 8 track player installed in dash. Windshiel has a "spider web" crack in low driver side. This defect is not in driver line of sight.Paint is not factory. Sorry to say, the area I live in is NOT conducive to this vehicle, due to desert heat & mountain passes. It has an on board water system, propane fridge, stove, & the other accoutrements needed to camp out in comfort. Depending on your wishes, as a winning bidder, you could comfortably camp out on your drive home. Vehicle has new, clean paper (Ca. title, registration, ins.) It is roadworthy as it sits. Vehicle is presently located approximately 45 miles East of Mohave, Ca. .VW's former home was southern Ca. This isn't some old rust Eastern bucket! I have most, if not all paperwork showing service performed since day one!! Even the original owner registration is here!! This will all be included w/vehicle purchase. Vehicle is in top running condition, ready to go! Even the fuel tank is full. This vehicle is "turnkey" ready. I even have the original engine rebuild reciept! I'm an aged gentleman, no longer able to work on or under vehicles, so I think that someone younger, near the coast could utilize it more then I could. A little TLC here & there, could make this baby the attraction it should be @ the beach! All doors, windows, doorlocks, latches-inside & out are fully functional. Yes, it needs some small repair. It is a USED, but not abused VW. A drivers seat (or seat cover) is in order, fuel guage non functioning, (normally due to sending unit) inside sliding door handle not original, but works well, turn signals/emergency flasher working, but not correctly- (left front park light just completely replaced) Standup top has a solid 24" hatch cover, but internet search shows mechanical hatches available. Highway driving reveals no serious rattles, vibrations, shimmy, etc. I have not tried the onboard water system, nor the refridgerator. Propane stove works! There are some very minor dents on the passenger side (blind side) of vehicle. More photo's can be furnished via email. This VW is a GREAT unit for restoration, if so desired, or just "drive it or camp in it, just like it is". It's a wonderful vintage vehicle, but not quite suited to an old mountain man.
