Vehicle Detail
Here we have one of the finest looking American muscle cars ever produced, the 1968 Pontiac Tempest custom 350. This car is a great candidate for restoration as it is SOLID, COMPLETE, RUNS AND DRIVES WELL, and is Simply one of the best looking cars to come out of Detroit in the 1960's. This car features Pontiac's great 350 cubic inch V-8 rated 265 hp. And the excellent Turbo hydramatic 350 transmission.Hard to believe it was the 'base' engine. This thing is fast! This car starts right up and idles nice, accelerates strong, runs cool and does not tick, knock or smoke at all. The transmission works as intended, rips through the gears effortlessly! This car has dual exhaust with glass packs all the way to the rear of the car. The term 'loud pedal' applies to this car. Nothing sounds like a Pontiac V-8 at full chat. Very sweet indeed! The tires are in good shape. The car goes down the road straight. The steering wheel is centered as well (it is straight when the car is going straight!). When you brake it pulls to the right. It has four wheel drum brakes and they will need attention. It stops every time, the pedal feels good, nice and high, not 'spongy'. A simple repair. This car is not a leaker, there is some seepage here and there. Nothing is hitting the ground though. The charging system works good as well. Starter cranks strong, no grinding. sticky solenoid or shimming issues. No rattles, grinding or other odd noises from anywhere. Solid driver. The heater, lights, turn signals and hazard lamps all work as intended. The wipers need a new switch , the radio does not come on and the dome light does not work. The interior still looks pretty darn good. It does need to be restored but it has been taken care of. Not thrashed. The dash pad is in real nice shape, door panel vinyl is nice (the backers have some warble on the bottoms). The head liner is in line with the rest of the interior, some seam splitting, not hanging down or anything like that. Presentable and very complete. All the windows roll up and down as intended. The 'roll open' vent windows work as intended. The windshield has a crack in it. All the rest of the glass is in really nice shape. The body is very solid and straight. It has been repainted once. Original color was an off white. It is now a pale yellow. The car is wearing all it's trim save for the rear window moulding (literally the only thing we see missing on this car). All the lights work and the lenses all look good including the too cool for words 'arrowhead' rear side markers and unbelievably it still has all four original T3 headlights and they all work! The bumpers are nice and straight as is the front valance! There is some rust breakout on the rear quarters (see pics) that will not necessitate replacement of either one. A few shallow dings here and there. The rear window was leaking at the drivers side bottom so at some point someone removed the rear trim and put what looks like seal all around the window. The doors shut and fit nice and are not sagging. The bottoms of the doors look good. Underbody looks good, frame rails are solid, no welds, cracks or bends. We see no evidence of it being wrecked ever or bondo in the car. Also we have the original Protect-o-plate that came with the car (sweet!) along with the owners manual, warranty manual and a box of parts for the car, some new some used (see pics). All in all this is a great start for your muscle car dream. We have the Washington title to the car. Any questions 360-461-3359 Walker. This 44 year old car is being sold as is. No warranties are expressed or implied. See pics! Thanks for looking.
