Interior color: ‘Ivory’ leather seating with Carpathian burl trim throughout ....... _____________________________________________ If I had to pick just two words to describe this 300CE Cabriolet they’d be: Understated elegance. Given two more words, I’d say: Wonderful condition. Please view my complete listing and decide for yourself if this is the vehicle for you. Just 69,489 actual miles to date - all well cared for and garage kept from day one. In 1993 this 300CE Cabriolet model was the top-of-the-line flagship model for Mercedes-Benz. One off the showroom floor would set you back about $83,500 (about $126,000 in today’s dollars)... plus options. Certainly not for the weak at heart. The 300CE was marketed to the well heeled and sold out the limited production each year. Through the following photos and descriptions (there are many photos as there is nothing to hide), I’ll attempt to show what a well cared for vehicle this 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300CE Cabriolet is. Please view all the photos, read the descriptions ... then decide for yourself if this the vehicle for you. Of the many Mercedes I’ve been privileged to own over the past 40 years, this has proved to be on of the best. All the modern conveniences coupled with a timeless sense of grace and style. The Mercedes Club of America magazine, the ‘Star’, predicts this model (the cabriolet) to be the next sought after classic ... much akin to the 3.5s of the early 70’s ... With the 3.5 Cabriolets now fetching upwards of $150,000 for pristine examples. Watch as good examples rise in value over the coming years. My offering here is truly a very nice example of this model. Garage kept for it’s entire life, and with a car cover when its garaged .. and low miles per year of usage. A hard to beat combination for those looking to own something special. Admittedly not the only one on the market, but a fine example and good value for the money. With 10 year old Honda ‘Accords’ selling for comparable values, why would you choose anything else? This Mercedes 300CE is certainly worth paying attention to. It’s a whole ‘lot of Bang for the Buck’. The profile of this 300CE is attention getting. I often have complete strangers walk up and strike up conversations about the car. All are appreciative of it’s elegant design on some level. From any angle the lines on this car are just stunning. Although I registered my Mercedes in Maine, it’s never actually been there. A few of my vehicles are registered so, as I have property there. My ‘OUI MOI’ Maine Lobster tags were ordered on a whim ... French for ‘YES ME". The Mercedes-Benz 300CE was offered in two configurations ... a Coupé and a Cabriolet. As with most models the Cabriolet is much rarer and more sought after than the hardtop Coupé. The Cabriolet was a quite expensive option ... thus the collector value. No door dings, scratches or dents. The body lines are as straight as an arrow. Let’s have a look at the interior ... ‘Ivory’ leather and in very nice condition. Typical of the layout on most of the Mercedes range ... center console and bucket seats. Ergonomic design, everything well thought out and in easy reach. All safety and warning lights are in good working order ... that as well as the outside temperature gauge and analog clock. The odometer is working - reads just 69,489 actual (3,657 miles per year on average for 19 years) Ivory colored leather seating with perforated leather center panels. Mercedes-Benz OEM rubber all-weather floor mats (front and back) ... that as well as carpets mats. Generous amounts of Carpathian Burl wood accents ... a desirable upgrade from the standard Zebrano wood on other models. All the wood trim is in very nice condition as shown. The A/C blows ice cold even on the warmest of days. The ‘climate control’ is automatic ... Dial in a desired temperature and the system will adjust for wither hot or cold as well as adjust the fan speeds. The various rocker switches above the climate control are explained in detail in the owner’s manual. 4-speed automatic transmission performs flawlessly. Smooth as silk and as precise as a Swiss watch. At the bottom of the photo - power window switches, power mirrors, and the switch for lowering and raising the convertible top. Original Mercedes-Benz AM/FW/Casette with optional multi CD changer ... works great. Power antenna retracts in to the trunk. This 300CE has never been smoked in ... never. Below the pop-out as tray and power receptacle are the switches for the heated seats. Two levels of heat for both front seats with an automatic timed shutoff. Headlights, parking lights, fog lights and parking brake. Power mirrors on both sides. The ‘Ivory’ leather seats are in excellent condition with no rips, cracks, tears or stains. The wood center console has a sliding tambour door with plenty of storage below. The folding center armrest has a lid that hinges up with additional storage inside. Included in this sale is a ‘stealth radar detector’. This unit is mounted inside the center console and is visible when the tambour door on the console is slid back. This stealth radar is in good working order. Both front seats have 6-way power controls ... slide, tilt and recline ... a well as heat. Seat belt 'presenters' deploy when the ignition key is turned. Saves reaching back for the belt. A feature unique to both this model and the SEC models only ... (the big Coupés) The rear seating is ample for two adults even for extended drives. Not your typical cramped rear seats so the manufacture can call it a 2+2. Quite comfortable seating overall and also in ‘Ivory’ leather with perforated seat centers.. Two rear speakers for a total of four in the cabin .... great sound from the system. ‘Roll Bars’ - they are automatic and can deploy in a fraction of a second if a roll-over is sensed. These ‘Roll Bars’ can also be raised and lowered from a switch on the dash ... they help cut down on the buffeting of the wind at high speeds with the top down. The ‘boot cover’ is also automatic ... it locks in place when the top is lowered. So much more convenient that having to take one out of the trunk and snap it into place. I generally leave the ‘roll bars’ down unless traveling at high speeds with the top down or with passengers in the back seats. Another ‘roll bar’ switch is located in the back seats for passenger control. The door panels are also in excellent condition ... each have two map pockets, wood trim, speakers, power mirrors and 6-way power seat controls. The driver’s seat also has two ‘memory’ settings. The doors shut with a nice solid ‘thunk’ ... no tin here. Info tags on the driver’s side door post. Manufacture's build tag shows a build date of ‘June 1993’ ... and the VIN # WDBEA66EXPB996445 Engine: 6-Cylinder DOHC (4 valves / cylinder) w/ Bosch KE-Jetronic electronically controlled fuel injection Clean as a whistle and Mercedes serviced every 3,000 miles since new. The engine runs flawlessly and has tons of power. Emissions control tag located under the hood. VIN tag on the driver’s side of the windshield. Spacious trunk ... enough room for several suitcases and a golf bag. The gray custom car cover and its storage bag shown at the right. The full size spare ... original tire and never used. Also include is the tire jack ... also, never used. Not shown, a fitted plastic storage ‘tub’ that mounts in the spare tire. Nice for the tool kit, etc. The Mercedes-Benz factory tool roll. The multi CD changer mounted in the trunk This Cd changer is operated through the dash mounted sound system. Tires are near new ‘Michelin Harmony’ ... A matched set of four. Size: 195/65R15 ... 90% - 95%+ tread remaining. The wheels are the original factory light alloy wheels ... also in excellent condition. This and the next nine photos show what nice condition the body panels and paint are in. The paint is ‘Midnight Blue’ and has a good shine and a deep luster. A full set of factory manuals and service booklets. All in a nice black leather, zippered pouch. This photo and the next eight show this 300CE in a different setting with the top up. The top is the original German cloth in deep navy blue. The top has a glass rear window with integral electric defroster. The cloth top has no leaks, rips or tears. The headliner (not shown) has a small rip (about 2" ... in the center) where it once snagged in the electric top closing mechanism. A minor flaw and certainly one of the few. Just a few more photos to wrap up this presentation. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and found it informative. ____________________________________________________________________ Full disclosure is what I'm after here ....
