Vehicle Detail
Up for bids is my beloved 1990 GMC S15 Extended Cab. 4.3l fuel injected V6 with 250k miles. Please read the entire description as this may be the perfect project for you as it ultimately just needs a new engine. This has been my baby since 1999 and I've had every intention to keep this truck for a long time still, but things happen and it’s time to sell because of the situation I’m in. The motor that's in the truck now is ten years old. It was remanufactured by Recon, and has approximately 110,000 miles on it. Last December 30th, the engine failed on me and I thought it was a blown head gasket. I worked to re-build the top end and upon completion, I found out that the problem wasn't the head gaskets, but I believe a crack developed in the block somewhere so when I add coolant to the radiator, it drains right into the oil pan. I have a lot of experience working with cars and everything I've done on this truck was done with the intention of keeping it. The truck is lowered 3" all the way around with polyurethane bushings throughout. It's a very tight and well driving. (when the engine's working anyways). The engine will have to be replaced to get this thing going again, but once that's done, I believe you'll be very happy with it. If you like this body style, which is better looking than the newer models (in my opinion), then this could be a great truck for you. The transmission was rebuilt only a few years ago. I requested synthetic fluid from the shop that did it, and it was changed only a few months ago with Mobil 1 synthetic, along with a new aluminum cover with drain plug. When I lowered the truck back in 2007, I had another truck to drive so this wasn’t a rush job. 3” drop all the way around.. ALL Belltech suspension. The drop spindles, control arms, front engine accessory mount brackets, brake dust covers, intake coolant neck, misc. brackets have all been POWDER COATED black for superior durability. I had the original two-piece drive shaft replaced with a custom 3” aluminum drive shaft. The entire setup was done professionally by Doraville Driveline Service. This job alone cost me around $700. (Custom drive shaft, u-joints, angle setup for drop, and install energy suspension transmission mount). The aluminum alloy wheels and tires by themselves were $1200 new and are only a few years only. Lots of tread left as the pictures show. *Air Conditioning works perfectly. I replaced the compressor (4-seasons), evaporator, and condenser (Delco) in 2008. High flow needle installed (I paid $20 for this needle. It was $10 more than Delco and worth the price). System has been upgraded to R-134A. System was charged with refrigerant by local Midas shop upon replacing ALL parts in A/C system under hood.- July 2008 *Heater Core was replaced around 5 years ago *Wiper motor and Delco delay switch new March, 2011 *AC Delco remanufactured front calipers with ceramic pads. Brake calipers works as they should, and less than a year old. *Both front head lights have been changed - April, 2011 *Brake fluid was changed within the past few years and is clear *Aluminum transmission pan with full Mobil 1 Synthetic fluid - Nov. 2011 *Powder coated Belltech 2" drop spindles on front with 1" Belltech lowering springs for 3" total drop on front - 2007 *Belltech 3" lowering springs on rear - 2007 *Belltech drop shocks on all four wheels – 2007 *Upper and Lower Control arms have been powder-coated and have had new ball joints installed by Napa (installed Energy suspension bushings as well) - 2007 *1-piece, 3" dia., custom aluminum drive shaft professionally fabricated and installed by Doraville Driveline Service, accounting for 3" drop. Energy suspension transmission mount - 2007 *Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings (black) throughout truck. All except for engine mounts. (This upgrade was my favorite) - 2007 *Ex-Tang Tonneau cover – Mar 2011 *16" Eagle Alloy polished aluminum wheels with P235 55 R16 Yokohoma Avid T4 tires (was $1200 new for set) *the tires have minimal dry rot on side walls. Plenty of tread left *700R4 Transmission rebuilt – September 2009 at 200,496 miles. (Mr. Transmission) *Most every receipt (I have quite the collection and for sure have the major ones) *Digital Instrument Panel – very cool and works as great *3.42 rear end gears (great ratio for this truck) *Towing Package *Radiator was replaced – June 2001 *Headliner has been restored and is in excellent condition *Water pump – Nov. 2011 *Both heads have been re-worked and pressure tested. I just spent $400 to have this done at Napa. They're good, but will have to be removed from the engine and installed or sold. *Gas tank with fuel pump assembly - I installed this, but before I did, I sprayed several coats of undercoating on the metal to help with any rust accumulation. Sept. - 2004 *New fuel filter (less than a minute of use) *All six new Exhaust bolts with springs (where manifolds connect to pipes) *Chrome Valve Covers *K&N air cleaner assembly *Rear jump seats aren't installed, but will be included *Battery is less than a year old *Magna flow high flow catalytic converter *Flo-Master muffler. (muffler splits exhaust so two pipes come out the rear *Flexible brake sections have been all replaced and are in great condition *Rear Drums are fairly new and have been painted black. Brake cylinders, all hardware are a few years old, but great *New A/C Delco Spark Plugs. Wires, cap and rotor have less than 15,000 miles on them. *Intake has been chemically cleaned and is ready for a new engine *Distributor has been replaced with a factory Delco one and is less than five years old *Ignition Coil has been replaced within the last 5 years *Front accessory mounting brackets that hold the A/C Compressor, Alternator, Power steering pump have been powder coated black *Serpentine belt tensioner is less than 5 years old *Serpentine belt – July 2011 *Fan clutch replaced - 2001 *All steering linkage was replaced - Oct. 2000 *Clear Title in Hand *Factory tint rear windows *Power locks/windows - all work *All-star bed liner *Complete new TRW front wheel bearing set – 3 to 4 years old *Transmission cooler *New 180 degree thermostat *Plastic replacement roll pan will be included (to replace bumper with clean look if desired) *New upper and lower radiator hoses *Rear lower quarter panels have been replaced ISSUES: *Needs a new motor (Approximately $800, with $3-400 core deposit from what I've found) + installation time or $ *Truck could use a paint job *A few burn holes in the seats as shown in pictures *Minimal rust under door panels and throughout truck *Normal bumps and dings for this age *Hood must be opened from exposed wire attached to latch mechanism. (The wire broke leading into the cab, so I modified the cable) *Rear bumper is a bit dented, but included roll pan can be used to replace *Needs to be towed after being sold as it doesn't run *Front windshield has small crack *Radio will not be included *Does not come with spare tire *Cut out in cab where drive shaft is will have to be closed up for a more permanent solutions. Right now I have a piece of wood spanning the gap. This was necessary when I lowered the truck. All surrounding exposed metal has been treated with a rust converter so it's protected. *Some body work will be needed before painting. GOOD THINGS TO NOTE: *I’m a very reputable and honest seller on eBay. *Clear title in hand. *This would be best for someone looking to keep the truck as-is, just replacing the engine as that’s all it really needs to get moving. The wheels and tires alone are worth the money to buy this truck. *I’ll answer any questions you have promptly and to the best of my ability. *Many, many dedicated hours have been spent on this truck. *Purchaser must make arrangements to pick up the truck. *No warranty and sold 'As-is'. *Please buy with confidence! *Inspections are of course welcome and encouraged. *Low reserve price Thanks for looking! -Brian If you're a serious looker, I can email you more pictures of the underside, or whatever you'd like to see! Just let me know. On Apr-24-12 at 06:09:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I apologize for the misplaced items above. I have some descriptions under the wrong headings, but I think you can figure all of that out. Some additional things I'd like to mention that have come to me the past few days as there's so much to this truck I can remember: The front stabilizer bar has also been powder coated black. Energy Suspension parts include: upper/lower control arm bushings, rear leaf spring eye bushings, all body to frame bushings, stabilizer bar/end links, and transmission mount. (this set alone was over $220.. just for the parts). The torque converter was replaced when the transmission was done with a factory Delco one. The aluminum wheels don't have road rash, are in great condition and just need a good polishing. They're mounted to 1" aluminum spacers on all four wheels to achieve the desired 0" offset. The wheels have one lock each on them, and removal tool is of course included. The seats are in really good condition with the exception of the few small burn holes as noted. I'll take better pictures and post soon. They've been well maintained with cleaning and scotch guard protection. The rear outer axle bearings and seals were replaced new last year. Mobil 1 full synthetic gear oil was added to the differential when finished. Rear emergency brake cables were replaced a couple years ago. The front cable sections need to be replaced to make operational though. All cables, connections, parts on engine are as they should be, so no guessing where wires go when changing the engine. I'm very meticulous about doing good work and replacing things the right way. You can imagine how heart broken I was when I learned about the engine after spending many hours working to rebuild it. I even spent the extra money for MLS premium head gaskets as I was looking to drive this thing for a long time still... I'm selling to the highest bidder and the reserve has been met. Please don't ask me what I'll take for it as it'll run until the auction's over. I honestly don't know what to ask as there's so many variables about this truck. Highest bidder takes it. Thanks for looking! Brian
