Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a beautiful 1986 Shelby GLHS. This particular GLHS is likely one of the very best examples of these cars remaining. It will not disappoint even the most discriminating enthusiast. If you are reading this ad, you probably already know the story and background of the coveted Shelby GLHS Omni so I will skip the history lesson. I purchased the car from the 2nd owner in Dec/2001 with about 35,000 miles and I have accumulated about another 4,500 miles since then. The car runs, drives, and operates perfectly and needs no mechanical repairs. The interior is in mint condition and needs nothing. The paint is mostly original, not perfect, but shines brightly and is very good. There is zero rust anywhere. The car has never been wrecked or undergone any major bodywork. This GLHS is a rare survivor that is sure to please any fan of the Shelby-Dodge pedigree of cars. Unlike many of these cars which were abused and neglected, this GLHS has lived a pampered garage-kept life since new. I have put much time and money into improving the car’s appearance and performance. Only the best parts and methods were acceptable. There are thousands of dollars of new and NOS parts on this car. The car does retain its original, numbers matching 2.2L turbocharged and intercooled 4-cylinder engine, backed by a strengthened A-525 5-speed manual transmission. I performed a modest number of "reversible" modifications to elevate the car’s performance without jeopardizing the stock appearance or diminishing the car’s reliability and drivability. The car is fast, much faster than stock. This '86 GLHS will allow you to embarrass your friend in their V8 musclecar, then drive coast-to-coast with confidence and comfort. Information on the work I did to the car and dozens of detailed pictures can be found at this website with the most recent pictures of the car’s condition found on pages 14-23 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/632619/1986-shelby-glhs Overview: 1986 Shelby GLHS #126, sold out of Fitzgerald Dodge in NH Mileage: approx. 39,500 Original numbers matching engine Ramsdell 525/555 hybrid transmission w/ Phantom Grip LSD, moly end plate, and heim joint linkages Clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel all have less than 1,000 miles on them. 3" swingvalve with full 3" exhaust and Magnaflow muffler with stock appearance in stock location Shelby Super 60 intercooler, turbocharger is original Turbos Unleashed/Paul Valeky 3 bar custom calibration & 3 bar MAP sensor installed in stock location Wideband and boost gages in a-pillar pod Koni struts and shocks restored/refurbished by Koni, coil springs powder coated gloss black Shelby Centurion I wheels professionally restored to stock appearance (not polished or painted) Car sits on new Goodyear Eagle GT tires 205/50-15 with about 300 miles on the new tires, the original set of (4) Goodyear 205/50-15 VR50 Gatorback tires are included with the car Brakes and rotors are in excellent condition and need no work; parking brake is functioning properly All electrical items function properly The car came with factory air conditioning.
