Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Up for auction is a 1971 VW Fastback. You won’t see too many of these around, in good original condition, and rare. We bought it over a year ago with the intention of restoring it. We spent 2500.00 on an engine rebuild by Autohaus, a local professional shop which specializes in German vehicles. Rebuilt at about 89,500k miles. It runs good. We haven’t done anything to it after that. It would be considered “completely operable”, and in good condition. Have a look at the pics, as they’ll tell the story. I will also post a video of the car running, so you can hear it. It’s all in original condition, and quite cool. Runs & shifts good. It’s an automatic. The interior isn’t mint, as it’s original, but not in terrible shape either. It’ll need front seat upholstery. The tires are slightly cracked & weathered, so you’ll want to replace them if you plan on driving it at highway speeds. It’s been fine commuting around town. Speedometer shows 91,150+. No rust- only minute bubbles at rear driver side (see pics), and at windsheild (although just looks like paint was worn off by air friction). I looked it over and looks like it has a rebuilt fuel pump, and the front end may have had the tie-rods done at some point. The body is quite straight, with the only blemish being on the passenger side. It looks like someone swiped the door a bit, but nothing major (see pics). It It still has the original radio. My wife loves it, but we want to start a family and need something more practical. I would consider a trade for an AWD wagon of some sort. Please feel free to ask any questions. I can PDF the rebuild info/invoice for anyone who would like to look it over in detail. Here’s the NADA used car pricing guide; http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1971/Volkswagen/Type-3/2-Door-Sedan-Fastback/Values As you can see, we’re starting this auction between the low & average retail prices. It wouldn’t take much to restore the interior & paint to increase the cars value. Thanks for looking.
