Vehicle Detail
1967 2 Owner VW Riviera Walk Thru Deluxe VW Camper Here is an exceptionally nice 1967 Riviera camper. 1967 is the ultimate year for many collectors being a one year only edition with all of the split window features and upgrades bottlenecking into its final year of production. These features are very desirable and exclusive to the 1967 model year. 12 volt as standard, larger more accommodating radio dash pressing, gas flap without archaic "church key",refined "pointed" bumpers, dual reservoir master cylinder as well as numerous minor but signifigant changes to lock cylinders, mechanisms, pressings and body structure. This bus has the very desirable walkthru configuration which is so nice on a camping bus. The Riviera was a American designed camper specializing in coachbuilding a bare bones model into a high end camper. These could be special ordered in many configurations at a very reasonable cost while the common Westphalia's were sold at a even higher premium. The Riviera became so popular that they were sold thru the Volkswagen sales network dealerships. Folks were catching on to the fact that special built campers readily available thru dealers were the way to go. This bus was bought from the original owner here in Oregon. The original license plates and VW dealer plate frame is still with this bus. We opted to clean it up and used the very beautiful VW bus color scheme of palm green over sand green. This bus runs and drives great, its ready for camping and experiencing the split window VW experience on a visceral level. Often the knee jerk reaction to old cars and enjoying them is to buy a project car and make it what this car is. Unfortunately many find out that the vehicle they envision costs much more than they anticipate. Even worse many find out that to realize their vision will take far longer than expected. Seize life, buy and enjoy now,if you decide you still long for a restoration process buy one after you have a "Dream car" in hand. The interior in this bus is just as cozy as the exterior, both are fresh not even a year old. The exterior is finished with Nason urethane single stage for a hearty skin and the proper "depth" look that old cars originally had,no quicky 2 stage finish here. The interior is a refinished fresh wood using the original interior as a template, this was done by a local master wood craftsman. Sitting inside is very cozy and gives that "time capsule" feeling. The front seats have new correct seat covers and seat pedastal rubber mats. The rear upholstery is original. The body is original save for a cargo side rocker panel, there is no other outside body section replacement or door replacement. All the doors, decklid, handles etc are original to the bus. Everything works on this bus,its a great little camper. The clean oregon title is intact. The engine is a fresh rebuilt 1600 singleport and wears a b5 engine # hinting they used the original case when it was rebuilt. This engine does not leak any oil, unheard of in aircooled VW world. The original tent is still with the bus with all the poles but it is missing the top piece. It is old and not perfect it could be used as a template or as is. The tent poles themselves are very hard to come by and luckily these are still all accounted for. Clean Oregon title. Our broker has shipped over 100 cars all over the world and have only ever had positive experiences. This bus is located in Oregon state.
