Vehicle Detail

Selling as a pair, two(2) 1956 Pontiac Safari's. I bought these 2 cars in the early 70's, drove the 1 for a couple of years, but the original transmission leaked so I parked it. The second one was bought for parts but never did anything with it. So after 40 years of hanging on and a garage fire in 2004, I've reluctantly decided to sell them, as a pair. Unfortunately, 1 was in the garage and the other next to garage, so both took a heavy hit. The sheet metal is all reasonable good on both with the exception of some roof damage(looks like it could be pushed back out). From what I remember doors, tailgate and hoods open and shut ok. Tires are present, so they will roll. There are both engines, with 1 being the original, shown (under work bench) with heads and intake off. It has a 56 tranny attached. This motor ran ok when I parked it, but had build up of rust around rings from setting so long. I was told the other motor ran when it was installed but never finished hooking anything up. There is no transmission with this car. Interior's are pretty well shot but some seat material and stainless still present and useable. I have titles for both but only licensed the one, the other title is still in previous owners name. Because of age it should be no problem though. Cars are packed tight in fencing so I wasn't able to get great photo's. I've tried my best to describe them. I am presently redoing a 57 Nomad which was parked in 1978 and just running out of ambition, space, time, and money so decided the time is now to sell these 2 cars and concentrate on just one. I do know they are pretty rare as they only made approximately 1/2 as many as the Nomads. How many are left and salvageable? Here's a chance to put together 1 or even possibly 2. On Apr-13-12 at 11:38:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Having a chance to look cars over, I did see both gas tanks are present (condition is unknown-but will need straps). From where I could see the frames appear to be ok (could not see any rust out spots). A lot of the outside stainless is present & good shape (just needs cleaning up). Both tailgates are ok with bars on the one. These alone are very costly. Cars are 'Sold As Is'. I'll try to answer any questions the best I can. Thanks for bidding. On Apr-16-12 at 17:26:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I have found 2 upper tailgate frames(no glass) & an extra Safari tailgate which will be added to the sale. The tailgate has 2 bars attached and the push button engages. It also has the I and A still on. It is pretty solid but does have some rust on the inside, could easily be repaired. On Apr-18-12 at 10:59:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Having a chance to remove part of fencing, I've included 3 more photo's. This may help in any decisions about the biddings. Both cars have all doors, all fenders, bumpers, tires, hoods and tailgates. From what I can see, the frames appear to be ok with no rust-out. Also, though the door windows are down, I believe a couple of them might still be ok.
