Vehicle Detail
Your bidding on a very Solid '66 912 coupe that was Originaly delivered in 6602 L "Polo Red" The car is a driver with No Rust, current california registration. Interior looks to be mostly Original. Outside has been repainted years ago and is a shade or so off from it's original Polo Red. The paint is DEAD... and chipped in many many places. Behind towhook had a very small skinny piece of metal replaced, but otherwise no visable signs of any rust anywhere on the body. Engine seems to be it's Original # 747766, not sure if it has ever been rebuilt The car seems to be very straight and I don't think it has ever been in a serious accident , the best part about the car is how dry it is . Car locks up with one key , windshield is cracked No old paperwork or receipts , sold as is Happy Bidding On Apr-10-12 at 16:42:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I drove the car 56 miles roundtrip to my Father's shop and had him check the compression and evaluate the overall mechanical condition of it. Compression readings were good at 130, 145, 135, 140. Engine ran smooth with good power. Still has the original Solex P4011 carbs which are not worn out. Distributor was updated to the later Bosch 061 as was the rear engine mount. Engine starts right up and idles smoothly as you can see in my video. It does have a small oil leak in front of the fan housing in the vicinity of the oil temp sending unit. 5 speed tranny shifts well up and down thru all gears with no bearing noise. All head lights, tail lights, license lights, brake lights, back up lights, emergency flasher, horns and wipers are operating correctly. The cigarette lighter works also. All 3 of the gauges are also in working order. Recent work completed approximately 2K miles ago includes front wheel bearing replacement, rebuilding of shifter, installation of new front and rear hood shocks, installation of KONI shocks along with Toyo 185/65 tires. Also worth mentioning is the fact it was raining today and the front and rear windshield gaskets are NOT leaking so I'm sure that's a contributing factor as to why the floor pans are still original and not rusty! The inside of the windshield did NOT fog up like most 912's do because the heater boxes are adjusted correctly and it was actually quite warm in the cabin. Only things not working on the car are driver's side dome light which is broken, front trunk light which is missing and window washer as the reservoir is also missing. Chrome is excellent on all 5 Lemmerz wheels. 2 are dated 12/65, 1 is 5/65, 1 is 7/65 and 1 is 3/66. More than likely the wheels are original to the car but there's really no way to know for sure. Overall, this is a very solid, rust free driver quality example of a 3 gauge 912! It's one you can jump in and drive anywhere with confidence that you'll get there! Only rust it ever had was the bottom rib of the front suspension pan. Both sides were only replaced between the front A arm pick up points and the tow hook only. The pick up points, tow hook and upper part of suspension pan are original and still solid as you can see in my pix. Panel fit overall is good! Doors fit and shut well with that distinctive Porsche sound. Passenger door lock mechanism and striker on lock post have been replaced with later version. Trunk and engine lids stay up when lifted due to new hood shocks. Any questions, please ask! I want to see it go to a good home! Someone that will actually drive it like the good Doktor intended when he built it!!
