Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE 1974 Ford F-350 Super Camper Special 82928 Original Miles Price $15,000 firm I purchased this truck in August 2008 from the second owner in Maine. He bought it from the original owner who lived down the street and was an electrician. Original owner had the truck rust proofed with Ziebart. This saved the body and enabled the truck to be a true survivor. The Super Camper Special package was available for the second year in 1974. It was in response to the very popular camping trends of the time. GM and Dodge both had dual rear wheel pickups they were promoting for this specialized use. Fords better idea was to slide the rear wheels back and additional 7", thus creating a 140" wheel base while still maintaining an 8' long bed. This also allowed the spare tire to be mounted on the side for easier access when loaded with a large slide in camper that extended past the rear bumper. This Ford installed a 6,500lb rear axle with factory 12 x 16.5 tires. They installed a3,500lb axle in front with 9.5x16.5 tires. This combination gave the truck a 10,000lb GVW (gross vehicle weight rating) with single tires at rear. The only one of its kind at the time. Other options include a special frame mounted attachment system for the heavy slide in campers of the day, dual batteries, and additional fuel tank, 390 cubic inch, 300hp V8 engine, automatic 3-speed transmission, am/fm radio and a heavy duty heater. This truck has original interior. New parts include; Rebuilt ford C-6 transmission Cam chain and gears on engine Valve seals Dual exhaust Tires all around and new rims on front (still have original 16.5" rims) Heater core Front brake calipers and new rear brake cylinders Rear window New paint Truck is mostly original. . .I added the white cab roof when it was painted because I like it that way. I changed the front grille inserts to 1976 model because I liked them better. Removed the two front push bumpers. I still have the original grille inserts and push bumpers. The truck has always been very dependable and fun to drive, Nice ride, good power. Turns and stops great. I am selling it because we rarely use it anymore. It was inspected last month and has a recent oil change. The truck has been meticulously maintained over the years. All service records are available. The truck needs nothing and is ready to work today. The only damage to the truck are a few small dents on the tailgate. It's never been in an accident or had any body work.
